You probably won't get any competition out of me this week. I've played this game for a total of 20 minutes so far, and it just doesn't grab me. I think the game is garbage personally, but with a shiny coat of paint ala Data East. Might be my first participation point only week.

Why don't you get an NTSC console? Most PAL TV sets are compatible with NTSC nowadays. Even some 90's CRTs are. Getting an NTSC console was one of the best ideas I ever had.

I was thinking about it but then I'd have to buy the games all over again in NTSC and that's not going to happen. Plus since I don't use PayPal buying stuff from the states would just be a hassle.

Reached 4-4 today, but died on my way to the exit.

This game really ramps up in difficulty when you are required to destroy walls to get all of the gems.

Screw this game! Now to play some Trojan... another game that I played multiple times yet I never passed the first level.
Fun fact: The PAL version (which is the only version of Trojan I own) is fast as fuck because of bad optimization.

26,426 -- ran out of my last couple lives trying to get started in World 6... died too many times on World 5 or I might have made it a little further.

I am impressed as hell by arnpoly's score, after having seen what World 6 starts throwing your way.

Chalk me up as another one who wasn't feeling it this week with this game. This was another game in my category of "owned but not played" and after this week it will keep getting dust. I'll just take my point and move on.

I remember playing the Commodore 64 version of this game as a kid and I could not get past the third level. 25 years later, same problem. These past few months have been really busy, so I haven't had much more than an hour or two to dedicate to playing. I hope that changes soon.

Sorry I didn't drop in with an answer earlier on this one.

For anyone stumped it was:

2-3 -- you have to trap the amoeba that is growing at the bottom of the screen. If you do it will turn into gems.

2-4 -- you have to clear out underneath the horizontal wall in the middle of the level and drop rocks through it (it turns into a sort of portal that converts rocks into gems)

Both show up a few times later in the game, though it isn't always obvious when you need to activate a magic wall rather than kill enemies for gems.
