Lego Islanders was the only full set I ever had, I wasn't the biggest fan of it, but it just seemed like everyone bought me sets from it.

I had the same set at the top of fogcityroller's post, I built it, threw away the box and instructions, and like 2 days later I knocked over the little table I had it on and it broke, and I couldn't put it back together again.

Here's a blast from the past, remember this poster?

I wanted to replicate this setup so badly. I was so obsessed with this poster.

I've learned a lot about legos and myself as I've run into complications. The first is the knowledge of how to transfer an image in the mind into legos. Its definitely a skill! It occurs to me when I built things decades ago I never tried to make something specific out of legos. If I wanted an airship/sub combo I would play with the legos for hours until I got something I liked, then blow it up and start anew.
This reminds of years ago when I had the Black Seas Barracuda Tanooki mentioned, I believe I lost it in a move but later attempted a Final Fantasy 3 style airship out of Space Police and Ice Planet sets. If you ever find some brown pirate ship sections they could help immensely with an airship project.

Oh my god. I think during Thanksgiving, I'll be raiding my parents' storage room in a feeble hope that my buckets of Legos are still there. Some of you guys are insanely talented.

I sure do, I always loved the posters and pictures they'd show to highlight sets.

This shit just makes me kick myself for giving away all my Lego when I moved out.

The last few years I've taken the time here and there to bag up all of the sets from my childhood, they had been entirely mixed inside a giant suitcase. It's been quite a project, but these are all of the sets I managed to 100% complete.

For those of you looking for storage containers for Legos, this is what I use for all my pieces:

It's called Really Useful Box and I got mine at Staples for like $30.  It's really quite handy and I will be getting more of these in the future.  Got a little bit more done on the Death Star over the past couple days.  Here's what I've done:

Laser cannon that actually fires!

Crane that goes in the maintenance bay.

The second floor is in place.  The bottom right quadrant is going to be the detention block where Princess Leia was held prisoner.  The hole in that section actually drops down into the garbage.  The bottom left quadrant is going to be the giant turbo laser used to destroy Alderaan.  The top left quadrant will be a vehicle bay which will eventually house Darth Vader's TIE Fighter.  The hole here allows the lift on the lower level (the maintenance bay) to be raised.  The top right quadrant is going to be the Emperor's throne room from Return of the Jedi.  A Sam Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale makes an appearance

The garbage and tractor beam reactor with the detention block floor above them.

The finished pit which Luke and Leia swing over, complete with rope hanging from the ceiling for them to swing to the other side.

Finished maintenance bay, complete with crane and lift to the vehicle bay.

Finished laser cannon room.  I love that they made the laser cannon actually shoot and it shoots far too.

That's a good idea... all of my old instruction books are still at my parents' with the LEGO bricks.  This would definitely chew up some holiday time while everyone else is napping.

Yeah I store my LEGO sets the exact same way. Though I'm not a big fan of putting the instructions in the bags because they can bend over time. I put them in those plastic binder sleeves.

I thought I lost it but this evening I found my Indiana Jones (and the Last Crusade) Motorcycle Chase little set, of all places I forgot it was in my indy temple of doom era lunchbox! It's on display again up on the shelf with a few other indy items in the room. Looking to ebay it showed the thing is like a $30 set now and I really didn't want to have to buy it again out of sheer annoyance of it going missing.

Been a week since I've posted an update to the Death Star, so I figured I would show off what I've done over the past week.

Here's half of the second floor built.  The right side is the cell block where Princess Leia was held prisoner in A New Hope.  The left side is where the giant turbo laser is going to be placed.

Here's the other part of the second floor.  The right side is a vehicle bay and the left side is the Emperor's Throne Room from Return of the Jedi.  A Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA makes an appearance

This is the what the turbo laser will attach to and also has controls panels to mimic the control station for the laser in the movies.

Here is the rest of the turbo laser, complete with simulated firing.

The second floor is complete!  This is what the finished cell block looks like, complete with door and chute to the garbage and a cell for Princess Leia.  There is a camera/security laser that will eventually attach to the floor above it.

Here is the section with the attached turbo laser.  The laser has a tilt feature that will be completed once the top floor is done.  As you can see, there is a bar coming from the top of it that will have more of the tilt feature built onto it.

The vehicle bay, complete with an opening blast door on the side.  Eventually I will build Darth Vader's TIE Fighter which will go in the bay and can actually fit the Darth Vader minifigure that comes with the set.

The Emperor's Throne Room once again.  His chair spins in a circle and the raised platform on the left of the room topples over to recreate part of the duel between Luke and Darth Vader from Return of the Jedi.

Thanks, man. The instructions for this are picture instructions and are spiral bound. This is the only set I know of that has an instruction book like that, but it's possible there are others like it.

Here's another update on the Lego Death Star

This will eventually be a Droid maintenance room once completed.  The bed raises and lowers.

Darth Vader's TIE Fighter which can actually house the minifigure that comes with the set.

Darth Vader's TIE Fighter in the vehicle bay.  There's a movable crane which it is resting on.

This will be an observation room, much like the one in A Hope Hope in which Princess Leia witnesses the destruction of Alderaan.  The gray knob in the middle is the rest of the mechanism that moves the Death Star laser up and down.  There's also going to be a viewscreen on the right which is interchangeable with a picture of Alderaan or Yavin 4.

While there isn't much there yet, this will be the conference room in which Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin meet with other Imperial commanders to discuss the completion of the Death Star.  It's also the room in which Darth Vader demonstrates his Force choke on Admiral Motti.  You can see attached to the bottom of the floor a security camera which overlooks the detention block.

Started a new project recently. Giant Pirate ship. Needing a handful of parts still if anyone is willing to help out a little

Need:
- 8 more cannons
- a few lifeboats
- nets
- chains
- anything lego pirate really
- pirate guns and swords (blunderbuss and pistol, grey swords and knives)
- bars (prison cell)
- barrels
- light grey plates (flooring, I have a few in the pictures), need many sizes

It doesn't look like much so far, but this thing is going to be decked out inside and out; when finished. It opens up at both the front and the back on hinges, so you will be able to see completely into it and all the internals. Planning on incorporating a lot of stuff into it. 20+ cannons, prison cells, rum room below deck, back stock for ammo and gun power, and a treasure room. It's built to scale of the lego people. There is a lego guy standing on one of the levels in one of the pics for size reference. I'm about 3-4 hours into building it thus far. Long ways to go on the outter shell, and even more to go on the detailed internals. Could use some parts, as listed above if anyone is feeling generous

LEGO made some great pirate ships in general. I still have the 6286 and 6289 ones which appear to be quite rare by now . Don't have the boxes though

Those two aren't Pirates of the Caribbean ships they are just random ones from the late 90's
