Wow, now after Gnar's score is added looks like I will be in 7th, down from 5th. I have been practicing World 1 and 2 a lot since I feel they are key for getting high scores. I feel confident I can breach a million points but from there it gets so much more difficult.

I have been practicing with my copy of Super Mario Allstars. I feel ready to post a score, but I want to make sure it's alright if I use the SNES cart. Is there any reason it wouldn't be allowed?

-------------------------
I am searching for the following SNES manuals:
- Sunset Riders    - TMNT IV: Turtles in Time      - Total Carnage
- Utopia                 - Final Fantasy II
Please PM me if you have one or all of them for sale. While I like nice condition, I am interested in anything 7/10ish up.

You'd have to wait for bimmy to answer officially but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's not gonna be allowed. If I am not mistaken the speed is different.

I looked online and the only differences I read about concerned sound. The Wikipedia page says they are virtually identical. In any event, I'll let Mr. Binny decide. I ordered a NES USB controller so I'll be able to use an emulator for future games I don't have the carts for. Using the keyboard is like learning the game again. Haha. Props to the member who posted a high score using it.

Either way, it's been fun learning the first world again. Hahaha. Cause that's as far as I've been getting.

I definitely don't think I'll get to a million points... I hope that someday there is going to be Spelunker so I can get my revenge!

Well, I have to say, this is the first time I've been seriously playing this game since I bought it, (Hey, gotta beat the original first!) though it's REALLY nice dropping this in my top loader, hitting the power switch and going to work. Closest I've come to cracking 100K. *sigh* Participation points only, probably for me, but it's still fun and I probably have some time to work out a better score. We'll see.

My username's not in the picture but I got 359,690.

So, here's another with my username but a lower score.  Can this be used as proof of my first game?  Although it probably doesn't matter which one works, cause i'm pretty sure i'm not making into the top 5 for this game.

I'm gonna have to say no to the SNES cart.  After looking in depth at a SMB3 & SMAS comparison guide, there are a couple of spots in the SMAS version that could give a player a point advantage over those playing on the NES.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

If you can provide a picture with your user name on your TV (much like with gnarblast, except he took a picture of himself with his user name), the score will be allowed.

No problem. Thanks for letting me know quickly. It gives me a proper excuse for not being number 1 this round. Haha.

In other news, I am the only mixing this game with super mario world? No matter how many times I die, I continue to think I should float longer with the P wing. >.>

Not a problem.  Was doing some early morning gaming and didn't realize until I was posting it that I didn't bother to put my username in the pic.  I kind of want to try for a higher score anyway.

I have been perfecting the levels that I know are best for grinding points. I can get over 100k points on the first level now, haha.

I'd love to know how after this contest! You know what I'm doing in World 1 I'm sure, but I have no idea how to get that many points before the time runs out lol

Gotta be first world. The best I've gotten on the first level is 45k. I finished the first world with 285k and had just over 520k after the 2nd world. Pretty crucial to point press whenever and whereever you can on the first 2 worlds.

Yes I will definitely show you after the contest, it seems like no one is using my strategy yet. Although there are a lot of people left to post scores. It will be intresting to see if anyone does it the way I do

No it's the first level. Just because you can't get that many points doesn't mean I can't.

I can definitely do better but I just don't have the time to keep trying and coming up with new strategies.

You are correct about 1-1. I know the strategy but its hard to perfect.
