Greetings all - just dropping in to introduce myself... John from ATL here. Like many of you I’m sure, the NES was my first console. I can still remember the excitement of opening it on Christmas morning and then it seemed like I had it for years. I never really owned a ton of games but at some point it became the Friday night "thing" for my mom to take me to the Video Rental store and rent a new game to kick off the weekend. For my friends and I growing up, it seemed like each weekend and summer vacations revolved around all things Nintendo. I also remember getting in trouble quite often when the phone bill would come in and my mom would see a ton of entries for Redmond, WA (Nintendo Hint Hotline)...
For the last few years (about 10) I had been heavily into Arcade Restoration and playing a ton Pinball. (active on KLOV and Pinside as JP335i if there are any familiars here) ... so earlier this year I really got the itch to get back into building up an NES collection. I actually still had some goodies packed away from years ago that I'm glad I kept... and now I find myself embarking on the looooooong journey to see how close I can come to a full NTSC set. Loose carts only for me and thankfully I do have some of the more rare / expensive ones already in the collection. I’m still about 300 hundred games away so a little more than halfway there.
I’m big on organizing so I had been going back and forth about what I wanted to do for a display. I ended up getting a few shelf units from Ikea and customizing them to fit my goal of a complete collection + a handful of peripherals. Used the long weekend to my advantage and just got them all buttoned up. Now I have a ton of games to clean and test before I put them officially in place.
