Here's a crappy score.. Tomorrow should post a much better one, only had about twenty minutes yesterday.

i played through and forgot to have my name when I took the photo...i mean it wasn't a great score (60k) but I'll try to find sometime later either tonight or tomorrow to post something (guarantee it won't be anywhere near that score but for the participation point I guess). But, who knows, maybe I might have a better score.

Unless I can get some play time tomorrow, (doubtful) this will probably be it for me. I just don't have enough time in the week to get enough practice to put up some really good runs together. Hopefully that will change sooner than later,but for now I just have to make due with what time I have. Blah.

Damn it! I almost joined the 100K club! Score has been updated to 99,250.

I think I can safely say this went from one of the most frustrating weeks to possibly my favorite since I started participating in the contests since its turned into a ton of fun, at least for me. I've really gotten into it this week and maybe I can break 100K tomorrow, as well as keep dropping more swears on that *insert expletive here* Pterodactyl. However, I do agree with many of you, seeing that overgrown pidgin take a swim in the lava does bring me a sense of peace and joy as well.

Is this the Famicom version? Pal?

Believe it or not i play all my roms on my old xbox. Before the powerpak my friend hacked and modded xbox consoles.So you could play  xbox games you downloaded from the net.This console has a HUDGE hard drive .It  has many xbox games on the hard drive and many emulators build in. nes,snes,genesis,atari,psx,n64 etc. etc. It's incredible and plays way better than a rom on your pc .  Maybe i'll make a youtube video of it. You can also adjust the screen and clean it up. less pixels etc.     That's why the screen shot looks funny. That's what i think you wanted to know? BTW a pal version of joust doesn't exist. So i can't play that :-)

^ Ah,didn't know there was no pal version. No,the reason I asked is because that version is different than the NTSC NES version,so I don't know if Bimmy will accept that and I would hate for you to post that score only for it to not count. =/

I only played the atari version.
This is the first time playing the nes version.
All the other roms on my xbox are ntsc and there is no pal version.
So what is this then? Pirate?

I found a Joust Famicom ROM and it is the same as the game in the video. For what it's worth, this gameplay video says Joust (Famicom) and it's that same version too:

That damn pteradactyl.  The way it just materializes at the edge of the screen seemingly at will has fried my flippin' nerves.  I'm at the point when it appears and there's 3+ ostrich riders on screen, I just say "screw it" and charge the damn thing hoping to take it out mid-air, because in all likelihood it or another rider will kill me if I'm trying to keep an eye on it and the other riders flying about as I try to finish off the rest of them.

I've tried off and on to best my old high score throughout the week, but my resolves has crumbled into the lava, I fear.  I have a party I'm oblidged to attend tonight, so my last hi score might well have been my last regardless if I had it in me to give it another serious go.

I absolutely love Joust. Unfortunately, I think I'm not going to be top dog on this one. Might give this another try between now and cutoff. We'll see.

It'll probably not effect my standing at all, but to me at least, cracking 100K is HUGE just by itself. With that, I'm officially done with this contest, but it was a hell of a lot of fun.

Well, nothing better than this to show off. It seems like all my good runs were ruined by stupid mistakes and bad luck. Once  I was at 150k with 6 lives left, but I got trap below blue and white enemies flying like crazy on the top. and couldn't do any better than 165k. But, I had a lot of fun and this game is definitely awesome for a contest. Classic of Classics!
