Yeah, too bad none of us knew enough about the game to set down the rules at the start of the contest. Next game picked, we really have to make sure we're all in complete understanding of what to do and how we're going to play the game.

Ignore all the complex stuff, just play the game fair and show us your score, even if it isn't the top one, second or third is better than no place at all.

I'm rootin' for Nesophile to pull through and win this, or at least force me back into the game by beating my score so that I have to come back and try to reclaim it, it'll make things really exciting. But so far, this particular contest has been rather interesting.

I haven't been able to get past 15 (I think it is) without dying a billion times. I've almost broken my controller out of frustration...

Hey, I'm just glad to have someone to go up against, and I know that you are putting some real effort into this, I've seen your scores, seen the improvements, there's potential there. As for waiting, well I was thinking of playing another game for a contest over on the NES board at Gamefaqs, Life Force, but after plenty of thinking, I dunno, seems I'd only be competing against myself with that one, I can do that anytime, so yeah, maybe I'll get in some more games of Wrecking Crew after all. I have a hard time playing more than one game at once anyway.

For 15, drop down, take out the bottom row, but not by using the bomb, that seems to make it harder to get the rest, instead bash them each in turn while following the eggplant man, then climb down the ladder and move all the way to the far left, wait for all of the wrench guys to get off the ladder, move off the screen to the right side before the one closing in on you gets you, then climb the ladder, take your time and let the eggplant guy get ahead of you then go up all the way to the top, and drop down to each of the floors of the pyramid in turn either by destroying them individually or with the bombs. For me this has been the safest way to get through this phase.

Now 28, that one just requires a ton of patience and careful timing, but when I did pass it I took out every other floor starting from the bottom, but it takes a lot to try to get the red and purple wrench guys to stay somewhat together, kinda hard with the purple ones being so fast as well as smarter than the red ones. Make sure to use the left side of the screen out of their reach if you need a safe place to wait until the coast is clear to clear some more of the floors, well at least until the fireball makes you move.

My most hated phases currently are 19, 24, 27, and 28. Phase 19 takes too long to break all those 3 hit bricks and kinda hard to get the 2 red wrenches to both follow you and not try to block you in, but its easy if you have the hammer. Also hate phase 24, another phase that takes quite some time to finish and can be quite dangerous. Phase 27, don't know why, it shouldn't be difficult, but oddly somehow I always lose some lives here. And of coarse 28 because of all the phases that I've played through this is the one most likely you are to get surrounded and trapped in if you aren't quick or make the wrong move. I don't much like 32 either from what I've played of it. I hated 15 for the longest time, but that one, if I'm careful not to let Spike break my ladders is actually not too hard anymore.

15 and 28 cleared...

I was trying to get thru 15 by climbing, and dropping off the ladder once for every lvl of the pyramid. Only need two climbs....i'm a dumbass lol.
I think i figured 28 out. U need to hide as much as u can by using the wraparounds to peek out the left side of the screen, enemys will just keep doing their little ladder-gymnastics thing and just ignore u over there. 'Cept for Mr. fireball.....sunuva.......
Ur like a walking nintendo power Megan....TY.

Probably should consult Twin Galaxies before each competition. If any special rules need to be set, they'd know 'em. (As pointed out by Miss Clawful!)

I think the idea is you can get extra lives so long as you aren't spamming them to keep getting points on the same stage.

Ya 1-ups are there for a reason. To help, not help u cheat...

I've figured out the pattern on 3 1-ups and i'm using the hell out of them if i stand a chance. As long as its just once per lvl.

Congrats for catching up nes_king, getting close. Hey, do you remember what phase you'd gotten to? If you pass my score I'm back in the game.

Wow. You guys are really slugging it out. I gave it a couple more games today (I've played it maybe 5 times total) and I managed to get 157,000 by phase 18.

Lvl 32.....my final submission. I lucked out more times in 1 game then i ever have b4. I literally finished 28 -WHILE- a wrench was eating my ass...

If anyone can beat this they deserve that game more than me...

Hit it Miss C.!

Wow, knew you'd come back with something awesome, but guess what, it won't last. 'Evil grin.' Are you absolutely sure you won't continue to try, because while that score is awesome, as well as hard to beat, I'm confident that I'll have it beat. Waiting to see what nes_king's going to come back with, he caught up too quickly, and passed me just as you've just done, makes me even more worried that he'll pull through and win this.

You know, this contest started out really dull, and I really didn't think it was going to be very good, plus the game was seriously annoying the hell out of me, its not really fun, mostly frustrating, but somehow, though I think this is only because of you guys finally jumping in with some great scores that made me have to work harder, I kept playing, albeit lots of cursing.

I still hate phase 28, that's one scary stage. Phase 32 is kinda tough, you gotta be rather quick in going for the ladders, its easy to knock the one wrench off the tall ladder, but the other one is a real pain in the ass.
