Overall this E3 was pretty good. Some big announcements and unless you are totally jaded and cynical, I think you have some great games to look forward to no mater what you play on.

I go into every new generation of consoles and games with the mindset of adding them to my current list. I never "move on" essentially. SNES in particular, I never stopped playing. But Wii and Wii U just don't have that lasting appeal to me. Even with Cube, GBA, and DS the number of games I'll actually go back to are very limited. I've tried replaying a bunch of games from the 2000s but with most of them, once is enough for me. But 80s and 90s games just never get old to me.

As a kid pretty much everyone moves on. Some keep their stuff, some dont. I would say you would be an exception to the rule then.

But I always loved them too. I never moved on from them thinking they were bad. Thats not what Im saying. Thats why I kept them and didnt sell them or give them away. But I didnt play them when I got a PS1 and PS2. Like most kids I moved on. Only time I ever played SNES in those years was at my grandmas house and the handful she had. But that was usually just at thanksgiving and playing my cousin in NCAA Football or competing how fast we could beat aladdin and Time Attack on Super Punchout.

well obviously. But most of us Id assume didnt always play "the games we loved" when we got something new. Came back to it later on down the road.

Yeah Super Mario Maker looks amazing. If I didn't own a Wii U already I'd buy one just for Super Mario Maker. Probably will end up being the only game on the system I will be playing for years to come. But I guess some people enjoy playing more than making. But even still you can play other peoples' creations online.

Not everyone shares the same high interest in games than others, even if it's good. The whole make lvls, play other's lvls can get old pretty fast for some.

Mega Man powerup offered something similar to Mario maker and didn't take long to get bored of just making levels for others or trying to beat lvls made by others.

Another game is Tank 1990 for nes, while yes you can't share your build map online, eventually you've made enough maps that you've seen and experience all the challanges that come to your mind.

Im sure there will be DLC to keep it fresh. I dont see me really getting bored with it that quickly because of the now endless possibilities with doors and pipes level types. Playing other peopls mario hacks doesnt get old to me. Love them

I got an SNES in Kindergarten. I was drawing out mario levels when I was in 6-8 years old in school on manila paper.

I can't imagine anyone who likes 2D Mario games wouldn't want to play new levels with infinite possibilities after all these years. Without even touching the creator tools, an endless supply of levels sounds like a good deal to me.

I was angry about the game when I first saw it but I don't care anymore. I'm still not buying it but whatever. I'll let the people who like it get it. I'm not going to boycott it's production because a bunch of people hate the game.

Yeah where was Retro Studios?! Did they ever show up? My guess is they were working on Metroid Prime 4 which was going to be on Wii U but decided it will be ready for the NX instead and thus decided not to show it off. That's only a guess though.

Apparently this is a thing:
"If we started for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo's NX console," said series producer Kensuke Tanabe, speaking to Eurogamer at E3

So that's confirmation that they're not working on Prime 4.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda U is a cross platform game (ie. a launch title for the NX).

I also think Pat the NES Punk bases most of his podcasts off of threads on NA. His topics seems to line up with the threads here all too well. I know he also takes questions from comments too.

I have the same feeling as this was what happened with Twilight Princess for NGC and Wii.

Weird to think that a new Nintendo console is already on its way, the Wii U doesn't feel that old yet. Heck, it doesn't even feel like it has had that rich of a life yet.

It may sound weird, but I feel like Nintendo isn't operating in the same generational scheme as the other console makers.

[Just using Sony for the sake of comparison]
Wii felt in between what PS2 and PS3 could offer --> WiiU feels on par with PS3 --> and maybe the next step will be on par with PS4?

Anyone else see this?

Miyamoto needs to lay off the innovation for awhile with hardware use in games, and just go back to focusing on innovative ways to tweak the games themselves, keep thrm fresh and just give us our core series games in beatiful hd and catch up to the ither consoles capabilities to get back some 3rd party support.

Nintendo obviously wants to start tge next console with a bang. Im sure zelda will be a two console generation game. They have just given up on the wii u and its sad because its a great system with a ton of great games.

Starfox probably wasnt even ready to demo really. They rushed it to E3. They probably still have alot of work to do with background textures and stuff. Still have several months. They did a ton with mario maker in just a few months. Im sure starfox will get polished.

The Nintendo NX probably won't be out until late 2017 so we probably have another 2 years of Wii U left but if you look back at past consoles the last year is relatively dead before the launch of the next console. The Wii U doesn't feel that old but it also feels like Nintendo realizes it's not going to be a hit and they're just coasting til the end of its lifespan to bide time until they get the NX ready for launch.
