I am considering importing a PAL SNES game for use on my American SNES.

I have used my Game Genie to overcome the physical difference of Super Famicom carts in the past.

There is no save feature in the game I am considering purchasing.

Will the PAL SNES game work through the Game Genie? Will there be any problems with graphics, sound, etc.?

I want to say no because of the speed difference.  Or maybe that's just a reason not to do it

I would google the game first to see if there are known issues running it on a US console. With the NES, some of the PAL stuff was fine (just sped up), while other stuff was unplayable (Corvette ZR-1 comes to mind).

I have the Honey Bee adapter for SNES which can make PAL games run fine on NTSC systems. I have trouble getting my PAL copy of Parodius to boot on the NTSC system which did have the tabs chipped, so even though it fit, it was locked out, but the advantage of still using the adapter is that PAL games manage to work, at least for me, but I never tried any others besides Parodius. Seemed to run at the right speed, too. I have that adapter for sale too, by the way, so PM Me if you want it.

The Pro Action Replay Mk 3 is pretty much the gold standard for this. I have one to play Terranigma and Dirt Racer FX (need to get Winter Gold).

I did some more research for the game I have in mind - Super Aleste. Apparently it is PAL optimized. Various forum posts and even a video of someone playing Super Aleste on a modded PAL SNES at 60hz (PAL60) leads me to the conclusion that it will run at super fast speed with sped up music when played on a US console. Apparently, there is no region check according to http://homepage.ntlworld.com/davi... so a Game Genie or other passthrough device should work (if not modifying the cartridge port to fit the foreign cart).

As a side question: does anyone know of a SNES emulator that can specify the region of console? This would allow me to test region lockout specifically. The Genesis emulators I use have this option.
