I plan on beating more than just wrestling games next year.

There are 20+ games I'm hoping to play through next year on the N64, so hopefully I can knock some out and help!

Time and willpower permitting, I'll probably go back and beat some of the games I beat on Normal again, but on Hard instead.

I'd contribute if they released anything for Switch. Lots of titles I've always wanted to get to but no great way to play them.

I can make the 2019 thread if there are no objections. It'll look a lot like this year's thread, I don't think we need to add anything like JPN titles or anything. Yet.

Objections? More like appreciation! Thanks for all your great work on this.

I like the way you're handling Japanese exclusives in the Game Boy thread, FWIW. It'd be nice to have a reason to play through a few of the fan-translated N64 games.

(Not that there are more than a few of them to play through, but I did enjoy playing through the so-called "arcade edition" of Bomberman 64 in 2017, and might try a couple more.)

Thanks bronze. Yeah, we could do something like that, track the JPN exclusives but don't maintain an "unbeaten" list. I've been looking through the list, looks like there are ~80-85 Japan-only titles. The common sentiment on the internet is that a lot of those titles aren't super awesome, but there are some good ones.

I didn't know this, but it looks like Mario 64 got a re-release in Japan to be compatible with the rumble pak! (Waverace 64 too.) I'm definitely going to try and find one. I still have my old rumble pak from the Starfox days. And I need a new excuse to play through Mario 64 again.

I know we're complete here, but I can't break the habit! Quake II is done!

Pretty good FPS on a system with several stand-out titles in this genre. Great level designs and graphics, cool weapons and solid gameplay. Just a couple of annoyances knock it down a notch or two. The weapons all seem to fire quite slowly, and feel a bit unresponsive, which gives a better feeling of impact when you land a hit but also make the combat feel less precise. The enemies are well designed and each has its own unique attack patterns and weapons. However, the game seems to run out of new enemy types pretty quickly, and you will be facing largely the same group of enemies throughout the game. They are also huge bullet sponges, which can lead to frustration at times.

Overall, I'd put it in a similar league with Doom 64 and Duke Nukem 64, although I would say Duke takes the crown out of those 3. Definitely a solid game to look out for though.

I think I'm gonna take some things from your layout for SNES, if you have no objections.  Less to update that way, which I need since I've had to do it all through my broken laptop at home.

Go for it. I use a Google sheet that builds the table and leaderboard so I can just paste them in. You can peek at it if you want. I should move it to Excel and automate more of it.

Excel would make it a bit more effort to copy over the styles in my experience. Google Sheets you can just copy paste the cells, but not so with Excel.

Well, I'm not formatting the cells and then copying them, the sheet actually has cells full of HTML code that I copy over. I enter the data on one sheet, and the other sheet pulls the data over and injects it into the HTML.

The only reason I use Google is so that I can update at work and at home. If you always use the same computer to update, it might be better to use Excel or Libre or whatever, because every once in a while Google flips out and doesn't load the sheet correctly. Maybe a few times a year. I've considered using Excel and storing the spreadsheet on Dropbox or something so that I can still load it from both places.

Not entirely related, but I have several Excel sheets that I update on multiple computers.  I save to my Google Drive and I can always open / edit / save it no matter which computer I'm working on.

Holy shit! I'd quit on the spot if they blocked NA at work, the only thing that gets me through the day, lol!

I wonder if they blocked NA specifically (targeting specific workers) or if it was a wider more general "Nintendo" block.

No, we changed software it threw everything for a curve ball.  Before I couldn't get to stuff as random as Wikipedia or Gamestop.  Now I can't get to NA or imgur.

That's bizarre lol. I guess it'd be weird to ask them to unblock it eh?

This year I ended up writing FAQs for Milo's Astro Lanes, Big Mountain 2000, and Blues Brothers 2000. None of them had FAQs on GameFaqs so I wrote them up. Next year I should take a few more games that don't have FAQs.

I included a shoutout to NA and to bronzeshield in the Blues Brothers one.

I only totaled 14 games this year, I ought to be able to bring that up in 2019.

The cold hard truth is that IF meridian doesn't contribute next year at the same pace he did this year, and if no other miracle workers emerge in his place, we're ALL gonna have to up our game to compensate!

In any case, I definitely want to try and crack 40 titles for the leaderboard next year. I actually have beaten 40 games this year, but some were already beat, so I'm pretty confident. And, obviously next year it WILL be my turn to whip out the N64 rod and hunt some damn bass, lol!
