Wow dude, excellent idea! Those look great. I still have a massive Kay-Bee Toys bag in my closet. I used to have an Ames shopping cart that I kept movies in for many years until my landlord took it upon himself to decide it was an eyesore and he made me toss it out. I also still have a Hartford Whalers Ames pennant from 1989 on my wall still.

Yeah I have some price tags and receipts too. I think Kay bees might be the only other bag I would be interested in finding. Other than Shelby's but I can't even find any info about that store online. All I know is there was one in Newton nj and one in my hometown of Washington, nj, but it closed soon after opening.

I dont have receipts but as a collector of classic toys and vinyl records I also have tons and tons of store tags for Ames, Bradlees, Caldor, Kay Bee, etc

Ah I thought I'd thrown it away for a moment but I found the bag in the back of my living room closet. This is the only "vintage" bag I have.

I was doing Christmas shopping a few years ago at Ocean State Job Lot and noticed they had a stack of these bags, but you only got one if you bought a big enough item for the bag to be necessary. I think I bought a bunch of wrapping paper and convinced the lady that I needed a KB Toys bag to carry it all up all the flights of stairs to my home. She still didn't really seem to want to give me it because my item wasn't "heavy enough", but I finally talked her into it. Christ lady, it's a plastic bag.

If I had a second one I would for sure, escpecially to a fellow New Hampshire resident, but it really is something I want to hold on to, the store was a huge favorite of mine. I got the bag at the Peterborough, New Hampshire OSJL (a former Ames) but this was probably back in Xmas 2010.

As long as one person feels this way, making this thread was well worth the work it took

Although it was a relatively newer store and only recently shut down (2009-2010), GameCrazy definitely belongs in a "Stores that don't exist anymore" thread.

It may not have the nostalgic, sentimental value that some of these other stores have, but what can I say, I'm biased towards it having worked there for 4 years up until they let us all go.

Piggly Wiggly is still big in SE Wisconsin, there's a few stores near where my fam lives and they used to rent out SNES games. I would always get James Pond Jr for some reason or another.

All the Supermarkets around me used to rent VHS & games too in the 80's and 90's. Shaws, Shop n' Save (Hannaford), A&P, Edwards, Big Y, Stop & Shop, and more, I remember them all having rental sections, and amazingly I've NEVER stumbled on any copies of games from grocery stores ever!

I picked up a few SNES and Genesis games from my local Stop & Shop when the Video Center closed up shop in the summer of 1995. Other than that, I haven't seen any former grocery store rental games either. Awesome thread by the way!

Nice flyer. Funny enough last week I did come across a SNES Bart's Nightmare with Kroger stickers all over it. We never had Kroger in this area though.

I stuffed a dozen or so more photos into the original post.

I missed Kenny Rogers, they had some great mac and cheese with the big shells.

Funcoland was great, because they actually let you test games out. Try that at Gamestop now lol.
