Well, that's why I'm checking with him now. As I said, and to be clear, I was informed he only wanted to have his last name scrapped from the comic. It wasn't there to begin with and I wouldn't have put it there, but I would have honored that request regardless. Just some miscommunication, that's all.

Although I thought part one was funnier, Stan's last comic gave me a good laugh too. I'd love it if they stayed, vote one for keeping it.

What amazes me is that we have so much bitching about this last one like Nick is the only one who was pointed out in one of Stan's comics. He's made fun of variant collectors as well, and he portrayed ParPunk as a Giant Rat. Mark didn't piss and moan about it if I remember correctly, I could be mistaken though.

Stan is very quick to state his opinion about the scene as a whole and often specific members. I definitely don't always agree with him, but I take it for what it is; Stan's opinion.

Keep em comming Stan!

I think if anything this controversy has probably raised the profile of the comic more and provided greater insight into the depth of the comic. I know I've studied that comic a lot more than the first glance I gave it, and realised a lot more of the underlying messages.

who the fuck cares! keep it up stan! im not a comic fan, nor am i a fan of your comic, but i voted to keep it in the ezine, cuz you should be allowed to say whatever the fuck you want in your little comic. if people cant laugh at it, then they dont need to read it. simple as that.

Look, if you don't like the things that I post, don't PM me about it and don't start a war in a thread. Just FOE ME so you don't have to read my posts! That's why Dain put it there! Use it!!!

Issue number three, the ENTIRE thing was directed toward Mark and how he planned on selling his collection a market value and then buying it back at market value.  Again, I could be completely mistaken, but I NEVER heard Mark complain about that at all.  How is that any different?

Ahhh, so Zzap has now become one of the few and the hated! Join us! I throw lots of hidden meaning and stuff in there. Things that may seem pointless on the surface but when you think about them, you should see they're actually well thought out.

Notice how no part of his name or his username was ever used.  There is no direct link to Mark, yet the point about people selling out to start over is still made.  He may be the inspiration but others fit the type too.  Just like if there was no mention of Nick or burnambill the point about hypocritical collectors would still be made without the personal attacks.  That is why the poll needed another option, for the comic to continue without those attacks but still making the point.

Hmmm, the issues of the attacks was not the purpose of this poll, just the existence of it. All will crumble.

If the attacks are there, I would vote no for the comic. Without them I absolutely vote yes for the comic. Another option for "yes with changes" like in the ezine poll would be my best choice.

I voted to keep it. I'm not sure what everyone is expecting out of the comic, but it's an entertaining diversion. Stan's not being paid to do it, and if you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to read it. Clearly it was meant as a joke, and anyone who took it to be more serious than that should stay away from public media in general. If there was some miscommunication and someone's feelings did get hurt, do what other magazines and newspapers do: print an apology/errata on the last page of the next issue. End of story.

I vote keep it. I spoke out pretty loudly against it, but I wasn't trying to eliminate the comic or the e-zine, just the direct attack on a member of this site. The very personal nature of the comic by the use of a real name and screename was just out of line. Beyond that, I have no complaints.

Hmm. It's pretty wild to see such a divided issue. Pulling it outright would be pretty severe. I maintain that it doesn't really 'mesh' with the eZine at large in terms of tone and all, but that's admittedly a very outside perspective on the whole thing, and this all probably makes a lot more sense to community insiders.

i never complained about it or commented on it because i never knew anything about it until tonight LOL man where the heck was i in September!!!! lol but anyways so i was a RAT?? nice lol! thats pretty funny really, i still dont understand about selling off collection cause all i did was downsize, and then bought some carts back at WAAAAAAAAY lower prices than what i sold the Cibs for. In fact i think im a genious rat, mainly because i sold off my rare boxes before this econmoy crisis got real bad and now i can scoop up all the carts i sold off for way less cash than what i sold them for a year ago lol. Smart rat :-)

Sorry to ressurect old threads but man i totally missed the boat on these topics, i guess i need to start exploring more threads than just collectors corner, auction spotlight, and BST lol. thanks guys

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

Seeing this thread revived makes me glad his comic didn't get scrapped. Faegly was, in my opinion, the only part of the last e-zine that was interesting to me. Sorry guys, alot of good work, but nothing really of interest to me.

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

I think you guys will dig the next one. It's a two-pager about Bronty and I think it's pretty hilarious, he seemed to like the idea too. Hope you enjoy.
