Does anyone know if any exist, or are in the making?  It would be nice to have a non-destructive way of customizing the AVS.

For examples, most of my consoles are black, skinned with black. I would like that for the AVS... or perhaps a black/charcoal aluminum shell to replace the original plastic.

Even some decals would be nice.  I see so many folks with decal'd up Macbooks these days.

This sounds like a cool idea. Give your AVS some attitude without destroying it.  

Some people have already put a sticker on their AVS. Whaaat?  

He did custom clear shells for the limited edition that sold early on.

Bunnyboy said that unless there was demand, gray was the only option going forward.

I remember the clear ones.  That batch was insanely overpriced.

If he won't, or isn't able to do it, hopefully a trustworthy, quality third party will at some point.

Just did it for my original GB recently, and it looks dang nice if I say so myself. Wasn't expensive either.

You may be correct, but I can only judge with the information that I have.  Those clear ones were wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too rich for my blood.




 

Gotcha. I think I read too much into your comment, because I agree that they are too rich for my blood as well.

Anyways, a skin or third party shell would be of interest to me as well, for the right price. Nothing available that I'm aware of.

I'm secretly hoping he does another run of the clear at some point, closer to the regular price. If not, I totally understand. I just couldn't afford the limited edition.

No biggie. Sometimes things aren't immediately clear via text.  I'm envisioning a black AVS shell with gold Zelda embroidering...or imagine an awesome orange shell with Haunted Halloween 86's Donnie on the lid.  Just some possibilities.

I also know of someone who does spray chrome and can tint clear coat for different colors.

 

That's pretty awesome.  Though I'd prefer not to mess with an original shell, I followed this guy just because his work does look pretty incredible.
 

Right now a single new color would be ~$7k (famicom red+white would be more) so find enough people to pledge that much and it will happen  

No one is going to go through the cost of building a replacement injection mold for the 4 pieces which make up the AVS case. I'd guestimate that'd run in excess of $20,000 for the tooling/molds and then you'd have to make a minimum production run which would be expensive in small quantities.

If you want to keep an original shell it'd be cheaper to buy 2 AVS units and only customize 1.

That looks simply amazing. Did you get that sticker from a seller on ebay? I'm considering buying one myself now that I've seen how good your system looks.

I actually found an ebay seller from Greece who is selling these decals. They're the rub on type I guess. In his auction listing he mentions varnishing the console first so the stickers don't peel off over time. He also mentions spraying them afterwards. I honestly wish I could get someone to do this job for me, as I don't think I have the skills or the steady hands. It really completes the system IMO.
