Point farming is usually only allowed when there is a game clock and you can't repeatedly get 1-Ups from farming points.

The Contest would be a lot more interesting if bird kicking wouldn't be allowed.

I AGREE but how can we regulate it?
Ill admit im not very good at bird kicking, also im not really familiar with the point system. Does it keep giving you points for hitting birds even after you get the 1-up from it? I never paid attention.

Now i know a part in level 8 you can keep hitting the globs for 750 points and they keep reoccuring and there is no time limit.

Im gonna make some runs tonight and see how i can do. I can assure you i will not partake in any farm scoring. Getting some hits in on birds till you 1-up is fair but shouldnt be anymore imo.

and these contests should be respected and players should play fair and no cheating. thats what makes it fun right?
anyways god luck everyone, its a fantastic game!

And i also wouldnt say "the best" players will max out at level 3. More like the cheaters and rule benders will. It takes more skill to beat these levels then find a glitch in programming where you hug a corner and swat birds for hours. lol

This is not cheating .
I can do this also, but not as good as in the video. (we did this last year)
I need a few levels more to max out.

Ok i agree thats not cheating, but man what the hell where they thinking on the points scale lol
I never cared about scoring in this game as i would always have a maxed out score deeper in the game, but yea that kinda sucks that you can rack up that many points just by legitimately hitting the birds.

With your original post i was under the impression someone was hitting 1 bird over and over again after the 1-up, but heck if it racks up that many points just from getting a 1-up from each bird, thats just dumb programming. lol

damn that sucks

well i dunno i guess leave it up to the Op for the rules.

Snagging a 1-up from the birds isnt cheating IMO, but does make it tough to point challenge this game

Hey i just had a great idea for this one!

What if everyone is required to skip level 2 in this challenge? ! You can snag the warp in level 1 at the very beginning and skip 2 completely. That way we would actually have a contest, and not just everyone posting up 9999999 scores by level 3

However doesnt really matter what OP decides, if we include level 2 i guess as the op says you can post a pic as soon as u max score out, and whoever does it first takes precedence. But it Kinda really takes the air outta the sail for everyone who is actually "good" at this game tho, instead of being good at kicking birds.

Eitherway excited to see others giving this one a run

Nobody's going to max out at level 3, not with 1 life only.

When you get the 1-up at kicking a bird, you can't kick it anymore for more points. And maximizing points in level 2 by kicking birds also make it much, much harder. Level 3 is a joke compared to scoring 500k in level 2 without losing your life.

Any infinite farming points spot in the game should be forbidden.

yea i didnt think you could rack up "that many" points either in level 2, but the vid op just posted had someone "somehow? racking up 777,000 just by collecting 1-ups off of almost every bird?

they were losing lives tho

Yes, but you won't be able to replicate that easily, nor without losing a life.

I get what you mean Mark, there's definitely two ways of doing a contest with battletoads. Maxing out score, and level 2 is the major key. Or getting as far as we can in the game with only one life. Usually, if we do the second kind, we also put a 'lower score takes precedence' rule in case more than one guy beat the game with one life.

I'm not really well place to judge the question, cause I'm actually really good at kicking birds. I made it out of level 2 with 742,000 points last year, but this was with multiple lives. I personally feel that kicking birds is as legit as you can, cause it takes a lot of practice to master it, especially without losing a life. Either way I'm fine though.

Oh i hear ya,  i hear ya. Thats awesome your good at that part of the game, and with that level being used, we are gonna have some big scores for sure i agree. I also agree it takes skill to master that part too. I just personally was never interested in that aspect of the game. But in a contest like this, its gonna take the cake for sure.

Maybe have 2 high scores contests. 1 for the people who skip level 2, and one for players who use level 2.

If not totally cool with me, i have a feeling im gonna have to get good at kicking birds and less time playing clinger winger inferno, and snake pit lmao.

Any spots in the game where you can infinitely farm for points will be forbidden. I'm not going to make point racking forbidden because it will be too hard to determine whether someone point racked at certain places in the game or not. Everyone is on the honor system with these contests, but if any scores look suspicious, I will ask for further proof of the attempt.

So hitting the birds over and over is not forbidden?

Hitting the birds will not be forbidden since you cannot farm them for points after you collect the 1-up from them.

So far im not liking any of my performance. At this moment i totally suck at swatting the birds and staying alive at the same time lol. Need more practice. Also i may take the warp as the snow level almost always claims a life from me on a jump or two. But first need to get better at birds.

And i have to say this game is pretty tough trying to score big and not lose a life for sure, i am pretty proud of myself that i can get through the speeder bikes pretty consistently the entire way without losing a life.

You can't really point farm in this game. You can max points, but it's not farming. There aren't any positions where you can except for 1-up loops, but obviously that's out anyway.

Hahaha!! Love it.  The Dark Queen is perhaps the sexiest (with or without make-up or pleather) final boss in video games.  Of course, I can't confirm that first-hand.
