Game Hack What would it take or cost to. . . Giving a game a new look, but keeping the same gameplay

I've been thinking of possibly having the original SMB "recreated" with some different sprites, text, and colors. However, I wouldn't want any of the actual gameplay to change. For those with experience with this, what would it cost for me to have someone to create maybe 50 of these with custom cart labels?

Any insight would be appreciated. I'm completely clueless when it comes to repros.

So basically a graphical hack for the most part? I've done it a bit but I'm by no means a wizard at it.

Ask M-Tee, he does a great job at graphics. I could also do it but I'm kinda overbooked these days

Yeah, basically. I didn't even know to call it that.

I'll shoot M-Tee a message. Thanks.

Any other info would appreciated. What should I be expect to pay for something like that? If it's too expensive I would like at least one made.

I have another question, is there somewhere I can see all the sprites in SMB. I want to start thinking about what I want to replace them with.

Im also assuming whoever could do this would have to make the new sprites from scratch.

Nerdy Nights uses SMB CHR graphics for didactic (<- I hope this is a valid English word) purposes.

Booked too, duder.

Your best bet is to learn to modify the ROM yourself. You can alter graphics though a program called yy_chr.
Then, once you have the ROM modified to your liking, you could find someone to produce carts from donors. Expect to spend about $30 a cart.

I also suggest choosing a different base game to start from. Mario hacks are so dime-a-dozen. Moreover, the amount of enemies and assets shoved into its character graphics, and the way these are used and re-used can make for a daunting first outing.

For something quick and easy to learn on, I usually suggest Loderunner:

I'll give it a try. I think I plan on leaving a lot of the enemies the same. Looking at changing mushrooms, Mario/Luigi's clothes, and title screen for the most part.

Thanks everyone for all the info.

If you are interested, I may be able to help you out. This is the most I've done: http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

That title screen was way more complex than a basic sprite edit .
