So it's about a $300 item so I'm not too happy about a buyer filing a claim on a Saturday for an item they bought Monday.  Nonetheless, it looks like Delivery was attempted Friday, said "Out for Delivery" then "Delivery Status Not Updated" that evening.

Buyer files claim without contacting me, I respond telling them to contact their local post office to check.  No response yet.  Any advice or comments?  Not looking forward to eating $300 if I don't have to.

Tracking in question:

Did you pay for insurance? This seems like one of those cases where you would need to call paypal and show the tracking and ask them to hold on the refund until you can contact someone from the post office. Sucks with people like this out there; I've refused some great offers from people with little to no feedback.

Best of luck and hope you get it sorted out.

I'd guess it would be delivered and updated early next week.

The buyer sounds like a shithead if he's filing a claim on a Saturday over this.

Stick to your guns hopefully this is just a case of being impatient on the buyers side because the post office got lazy.

If it helps any I've had several packages say out for delivery and sometimes delivered and it not show up till the next day or two it's annoying and sometimes nerve wracking depending on what I spent on it. I also had a case of Delivery not updated on an item I bought outside the US and took a month to arrive and the status never changed figured it was some error on their end as I knew it would take awhile to arrive.

Well it looks like you have tracking and confirmation it was shipped. Per paypal's policy to be covered on this item anything over $100 needs signature confirmation. Having dealt with usps on a daily basis i have had this situation before. The mail carrier scanned the item as out for delivery but never delivered the item due to the ammout of deliveries. It should be delivered by monday or the person can go to the post office and pick it up.

I am quite sure this has happened to me as a buyer. The tracking had the same status "Delivery Status Not Updated" on a Saturday. I called USPS to find out what was going on since it was supposed to be delivered on Friday. They were not helpful at all but did tell me to wait as it should go back out for delivery. The item showed up on Monday.

Yes this has happened to me when the status keeps going back and forth, just a technical issue I would assume....never had an issue.

Seems like the buyer is just an asshole and is placing blame on the wrong party.

This same thing happened recently to me for an item I purchased from this forum. Said "out for delivery" and I wasn't home but the tracking didn't update. Eventually it did though and I just rescheduled a redelivery for the next day. I'm not sure why the buyer has filed a claim already just because they missed the attempted delivery. Seems they are just trying to work the system and maybe they get a refund and will receive the game. They should receive it tomorrow either as a redelivery or just they themselves picking the package up at the post office.

Yeah that status happens
But it will show as delivered once updated
Also for that amount hopefully you had it insured

Sucks that the buyer opens a claim without contacting you first.

Odds are it will be delivered monday and if the person is a decent human being will cancel the case.

If the case isn't cancelled i am sure showing the tracking will be enough to prove delivery. But it will definitely be a headache thanks to the usps and this impatient buyer.

Hope it gets resolved for you man.

Looksl like the USPS tracking says delivery confirmation not signature. I usually add it to anything I sell on ebay over a couple hundred even though the payapl requriement is for $750 and over transactions now, right?
I don't want someone claiming they never got their expensive package that shows up as delivered and the delivery person just dropping it off in an apartment hallway or on a porch to get stolen. lol

Ive been told both. Paypal might be 750 but ebay has said 250 and auto apply it if the sell is 250 or over.

From the USPS here's their official meaning:
When a mailpiece is given the "OF" event (out for delivery), there is an expectation that within 14 hours the piece will receive a clock-stopping scan. If a clock-stopping scan is not made within 14 hours, a "DX" event is created to show "Delivery Status Not Updated".
So they delivered it without scanning it, or never delivered it. Around here they sometimes miss packages, and deliver it the next day.

In any cases, the move from the buyer totally looks like an attempt to take advantage of the situation. Maybe the package was delivered but the postman forgot to scan it as delivered, or it was truly not delivered and they'll try again on Monday but the buyer is trying to squeeze a refund meanwhile. Or, that guy is stupidly impatient.

Is that auto apply just for an individual item?

I sold someone like $600 total with 4 or 5 magazine lots in one invoice a few months ago and I still had to add it myself.

This happened with a package my wife purchased. It was shipped via UPS, then USPS ended up delivering it. Our complex actually just got new mailboxes at the time so we were still getting some mail at both boxes before they removed the old ones. It was in the old box. Apparently they just forgot to scan it. Odds are your package probably arrived there. Her tracking status never updated beyond the Delivery Status not Updated status though. Ours was a cheap $20 item too.  It was on a Saturday too actually now that I think about it.  Just wait for Monday, I believe eBay gives you 4 days to initially respond anyway.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

So it was marked as Delivered today and the buyer cancelled the claim. Can't believe I had to go thru this but I was a bit worried about it for 24/48 hours over the weekend. Can't believe how impatient some people are. The buyer had 407 positive feedback too, not some 0 feedback rookie.

Had a feeling this would be the case. Glad it was resolved, headaches like this are enough to ruin your day or in this case weekend.

Yeah I didn't let it get to me, I have faith in the system and believe most people are honest.  But I was definitely annoyed for a good 5 minutes when I initially got the message over email.

Your concern was valid with eBay users pulling fast ones these days. At least the buyer was not trying to cheat the system!

Glad this worked itself out.

Glad it got delivered for you man. Dealing with potential lying buyer for big money is a very stressful situation. I lost 350 plus a charge back 20 fee from a guy who claimed half of my rare snes games I sent him didnt work, then sent me back a phone book from his area and some commons. Won the ebay case, but lost the paypal chargeback. Wrote a letter, showed pictures. Lost the chargeback for the 350/500+ purchase and paypal bills me the fee for the chargeback on top of it like a slap in the face. Had beyond proof of what he sent. Apparently he used a hotel address(didnt know until I researched it) as well and the credit card might have been stolen. Paypal didnt protect me though. He scammed another seller too just like me and they contacted me warning me of him, but then it was too late and he had already started the shit with me. Probably why he stopped communicating on ebay for months before the chargeback.
