Also, is it just me, or does it seem like the levels keep repeating themselves after a certain point, with no real changes?

I didn't count the exact number, but I think they do basically repeat themselves every 11-12 phases.

It's actually every 5 phases.  4 levels, then a bonus stage, starting with Phase 9.  9, 14, 19, 24 (etc) are all the same.  So are 10, 15, 20, and... well, you get the idea.

I'm sitting this week out, but I'm enjoying all of the great scores so far.  Keep 'em up!

Yes it ends up being about 10k per level.. it isnt like that at first but if you get far enough it evens out. Back in 2008 or so I rolled over my score on this game passing the million point mark at right about the same time I rolled over the levels and went from level 99 to level 0 and back to 1.

dang! nice score.... I really gotta try harder tomorrow. I couldnt even get to 500k today.

Couple times I was in quite the tit squeezer but pulled through with some lucky moves to keep going.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

Tried playing again today but again nothing special. Ill give it one more go before the contest is over but I'm ok with not being on top. Thanks to whoever organizes these things. I'm not having a good week in real life but this has been a pleasant disraction.

I needed some inspiration to help me get a better score. I think I found it.

full disclosure: This score is on the famicom version.  As you know, the ROMs are the same, and anyone playing the converter release is playing the same one.  Your call Bimmy!

Lol, his milkshakes bring all the boys to the tourney.

I haven't had anytime so far this week (typing this on my phone in a hotel in OC MD). Leaving tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll have time to sit down and at least get a participation point this week. Though, I have no idea what shape I'll be in tomorrow since I'm about to head out for the evening (or morning when it comes to the mess I may/may not get into tonight).

As long as there's no differences between the Famicom and NES versions, then it won't be a problem.  But like you said, anyone playing a convertor release is playing the same version as the Famicom, so it should be fine.

I was totally unaware that I didn't have a cart of this anymore, must have sold/traded it when I was moving places to cut down on stuff.  I know I can do better than this score, but this will be the best I'm able to put out since I'm going outta town tomorrow.

I apologize for the pic quality... I found it hard to snap one that wasn't terribly fuzzy.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of this new contest!  Unfortunately I was distracted from the previous by a number of unfortunate factors, such as losing my job at exactly the worst possible time.

But I'm ready to compete once again!

Well, I tried.  After about 2 minutes I figured out that it's way to akward without a proper controller.   I'll have to pick one up for future contests.  This is all I got for this one, lol.

Most likely will finish in last place, but should get me a participant award.

Sigh... just not that motivated this week.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

-
Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

222,550.  Thanks for giving me an excuse to play a game in my collection that I otherwise wouldn't think too much about playing.
