I've gotta say this is my fave thread right now. Love the Wii U collecting at the moment.

Just saw Legend of Kay at EB Games. Didn't even know this game was released. Looking at the release list looks like it came out late last month. Anyway, only saw the one copy I bought out of about 12-15 stores I've been to in the last week or so. Might be a tough one to track down.. not sure. 



Also, can anyone tell me the difference between the Gold Wind Waker HD and the Non-gold version (cover art)? They had a bunch of copies at the local TRU and there was a good variety of both. Just curious. 

I'm a little less than 15 games from a full set and I'm just waiting for most of them to drop in price (Lego Jurassic Park, Transformers, Kirby etc.)

I'm hoping that cover art variant you mentioned is a Canada exclusive because I don't want to have to buy another one lol. Dont know anything about it though. I bought the legend of kay but haven't picked up lego Jurassic park yet so I'm missing one for me set.

How many are on your Wii U release list now? I think I'm needing a few more than you, but really close. Also waiting for price drops. It's a fine line with Wii U titles. Wait for price drops, but if you wait too long they end up OOP and prices start going the wrong way on some games. Some more shovel ware and unusual games releasing in the next few months for Christmas. I guess it's too be expected but will be interesting to see how many copies are available.

BTW, just to confirm did your copy of Legend of Kay come in a white case?
 

 

Yes, Kay comes in a whilte case. I have 116 on my list with Kay and Lego Jurrasic World being the last two released. 

This website is good although it seems to be missing two titles since I am not including Cocoto Circus 2 and Art Academy: Atelier/Home Studio since it didn't get a physical release in North America. Their list has 116 and so does mine, but like I said it should have 118 on the NintendoLife list.

EDIT: I think I figured it out. I am including Luigi U, Mario U+ Luigi U, and Duck Tales Remasterd. They are not on that list for whatever reason. The games they include that I don't are One Piece Unlimited and the other two listed above. I believe 116 should be the magic number right now up to and including Kay.

There are much more hidden about the place in different coutries now. I would say there are above 150 now.


I am currently very close to hitting the 100 mark for PAL releases. The last time I checked there are 114+ PAL titles.

I'll take a look and see what they show. Looks like I'm at 103 different titles currently. Not bad, but there are a decent amount being released in the next few months. I'll have to keep an eye on them. Games like Rodea and Devils Third may get small print runs with a focus on digital. There are also some shovelware titles and who knows what type of print runs those will get. 

 

I noticed they started selling NSBU+Luigi U on its own now and it comes in a red dvd case like Mario Kart. I guess it technically would be a variant of sorts if you got it sealed with the red case instead of the blue one that came in the console bundle.

Yeah. There is a mario 3d world in a red case without the family game of the year tag too. I've been falling behind. No one has had a sale in forever.

I'm surprised at the amount of people who are going for or have complete Wii U sets. I guess there must be a certain thrill with collecting an entire library, while that system is still alive. If you are planning on going for a 100% complete set, then I would get on that sooner than latter. Other collectors have told me about some really random shovelware games that are harder to get a hold of.

To me it's just so refreshing to work on a system that is still in its retail phase and away from the fad, overpriced games, and all the BS that comes with retro collecting. Also, the small library really attracts me to completing the set, not unlike N64 for a lot of collectors. Plus I just love the Wii U as a console. NES and SNES are more ridiculous for the common games going for $20 to $50 than the actual rare games going for hundreds of dollars.

A number of games were released over the last ouple of days. Just Dance 2016 has a Gold Edition variant. I'll be waiting for this one to drop to $5 sometime next year. 

Yep...Just Dance, Sklanders, etc.. are best to get a year or so after release when they get clearanced out.

 

lol I just got skylanders giants starter pack for my set for only like 11 bucks shipped. A year isnt enough haha.

The ones after im still seeing clearanced at 20-40 new. Giants was an old one. Its starting to disapear. Glad i went ahead and got it
