Well, I improved my score, but not enough to move up in the standings. Oddly enough though, I broke 200K and only made it to level 3...wish I knew how I did that so I could replicate it, because on the following run I got further but was still a few thousand off my high score...

Odd thing about the high score:  It has a '9' in the tens digit even though the lowest-scoring kill in the game is 100 points.

Both goals for this year achieved Beat my score from last year, and beat the second loop. I'm content.

Updated my Score. Not by a whole lot but will be enough to keep me out of the basement which has pretty much become my goal in these challenges. I know I won't be competing with all these impressive scores people have been putting up the last few weeks. But damn I've had a lot fun taking part in these challenges.

A couple things you should know.

1. Tom is not the type of person to get revenge.

2. Tom is the best all around NES player, so he really doesn't need to.

3. He could have topped my score last week if he had the time and desire, I wouldn't be suprised if he only fired up the game once and got that score.  He's probably more concerned with winning the war, than winning one battle.

I'm not playing this week anyway.   I usually only play when I have alot of time, or if it's a game I really enjoy, or I've already mastered.       Truthfully I don't like horizontal scrollers, and have yet to play Gradius outside of the Blades of Steel Demo.

Most importantly, I definitely do not have the skill and fortitude, to battle it out every week, like alot of you do!  Plus my wife would kill me!

Well, I'm glad I beated my previous personal score at Gradius, but still, I feel like I should have done a lot more. I think I could pull a Tom score on this game if I had more quality daytime to play. I rarely can play more than 90 continuous  minutes per day, and very late so I get tired and it get harder to stay on focus.

Congrats to Tom for rolling that score, and to WickedWonka for getting a very competitive score here.

Well, for once I had more time than usual to put in. Granted, the score is garbage, but, again... it was fun and forced to finally go get the cart. I'll update again if I get another decent run (now that I've finally figured out what to do with the volcanos.
