Thumbs up to retrozone as my first order from them arrived yesterday. It was the NES -> USB adapter and it shipped FAST! (and works perfectly... SO much better than a tomee fake USB NES controller I bought recently).
I heard someone shit all over the idea of using a usb controller to play stuff on the PC. I asked them if they had used Bunnyboy's stuff. They argued with me forever about how they had tried
everything and that nothing created the same feel as the real NES. They were adamant that even though they hadn't tried his, that it still had to suck based on everything else they had tried. I think I quit talking to them and simply walked off. I can only take so much dumb.
But yes, obviously you saw the difference. His stuff is legit. Also, the packing is cool. Didn't realize that stuff came in something till recently. Pretty badass.
In general, real game controllers with an adapter work better than that logitech crap they sell for PCs. For instance, back when PS2 controllers were still $20-$25, I bought a USB-PS2 adapter and paired it with a PS2 controller. The logitech PC version (which was a knockoff on the dual shock design and cost nearly as much as a PS2) had painfully stiff buttons / Dpad and an analog stick that would get stuck.
I've got four RetroUSB adapters for NES, SNES, both USB and Game Cube versions. I also have the RetroUSB Genesis adapter as well. The Game Cube SNES controller is discontinued and won't work with new Wiis or Wii-U, but it makes a flawless Game Boy Player controller for playing Game Boy games on the big screen.
I also own a PS2 USB adapter that I got off Lik-Sang a long time ago, and an adaptoid (N64 adapter from early-mid 2000s - the company that made them no longer exists). A good PS2 controller is all you'll ever need for PC games IMO, but the retro NES / SNES controllers are great for arcade type games or emulators.
