I'm surprised someone hasn't made an alternative auction site to Ebay, most sellers I've seen do not enjoy them, so I think they'd jump ship . Regardless, I stopped doing free shipping, returns, and 1 day handling times. Not worth the hassle to save 10% of roughly 10%. But also, it is not my livliehood, as it could be others, so maybe that savings makes it worth the while for them.

It's been discussed before. There's almost no chance a new site could get anywhere near eBay's market share to even make a dent. You can't just create a new site and expect people to flock to it when 1) it doesn't offer enough items to sell in the beginning and 2) most buyers and sellers are entrenched in eBay already. It's a real chicken or the egg situation.

There's been tons of eBay imitators, and every one of them has gone bust or sticks to very niche items. The only thing that has kind of made inroads is social media.

LOL not a rant, but funny thing I never thought about. Apparently, you can offer higher than a BIN is listed. So, I have an item listed as $175 with BO and someone ended up putting an offer of $400 for it. xD Pretty funny seeing that.

I've had that done twice before and they messaged me right away after saying it was a mistake. You're right it is funny though.

I haven't used ebay to sell for a few months. The search function to start a new listing has gotten really bad. So many repros flooding the search results. Hopefully the searches aren't that bad for the buyers.

This is the most comically bad packaging job I've ever received. I need to stop going against my instincts of avoiding low feedback sellers.

I think I'm gonna deny a claim tonight

Buyer opened up a refund claim
Reason / didn't like it
And his comment was something I pointed out in the listing

Fuck this dude
I pointed it out , took pics of it and when I got a reply from him it was
'No I didn't read , just looked at the pictures '

Bs I'm tired of this type of shit
Maybe if he had like 1 feedback it would fly but he has a couple under his belt

The issue I have is like , I sent it priority insured and then trying to expect he'd return it how I sent it is wishful thinking. Most of the time I get some returns the item is fucked up. >.>

Had someone message me with a problem with their item, which is fine... but they bought it and received it close to the tail-end of January. It's near the end of March and the return policy is 30 days... He's about 20-something days over.

If it were only 1 or 2 days over the 30 day, I can understand and I may be a bit more lenient. But not to this.

If this is on Ebay then you're screwed. Ebay will side with the buyer and escalate a return.

I wonder if you put the item description as the first pic and some statement about reading the full description if that would cover your listing.

It's a good job so many people insist on adding comments to their listings like "no scammers/time wasters/con-artists/fake bills" etc. It really helps a scammer/time-waster/con-artist/counterfeiter like myself know who's listings not to reply to. Anyone who doesn't add that type of comment is asking to be deceived.

Always happens. It is like they know when to give me the offer whenever I don't have any items ending that time or I bought something the day before.

Well apparently Ebay DOESN'T want my money, and they want to screw over a seller in the process.

Tonight I was bidding on a variety of games from a seller whom I've purchased from several times in the past, always at $150+ at one go (the guy lives in South America, this is the only way to save on shipping, and the only way I will buy anything from there, is if I purchase numerous items at once).

I started placing bids on some items and then this message appears:

"Attention Buyer:

You've reached a temporary buying limit.

• To make sure buyers don't bid on or buy more than they're comfortable with, we occasionally place limits on buying activity.
• In some cases, limits are placed because there are too many unpaid items or cancellation requests on a buyer's account.

Here are some ways to raise your limits:

• Increase your number of successful transactions by purchasing any Buy It Now item using PayPal.
• Pay for any items in your shopping cart.
• Go to My eBay > Account > PayPal Account, and then select Link my PayPal account. It may take 24 hours for your PayPal account to be linked. "

Well fuck you too, Ebay. There's no items in my shopping cart, I haven't not paid for anything or cancelled any item on Ebay ever, and I'm not going to link a paypal account with you, just because you are using bully tactics. Furthermore, I think I know better than you do what I do and don't feel comfortable with purchasing.

Now for the clusterfuck you, Ebay, have started:

If I can't place a full order with "the guy", I won't pay for any of it. Yes, it is damaging to the seller, but with the cost of shipping from South America to Taiwan, or to anywhere really, it just isn't economically an option to purchase so few items from the seller... just so that I can do what, purchase the other items I wanted (some I want even more than the ones I've bidded on currently) at a later point, if they're still available? No thanks.

So for no reason at all, Ebay is now giving serious buyers a reason to flake, fucking over the buyers and also the sellers in one go. Thanks, and good night!

I got an interesting one... picked up some broken consoles off of Facebook marketplace for cheap because they came with peripherals, and I can usually sell the broken consoles on eBay to make it a good buy if I don't think I can fix them. Came across a PS4 with the BLOD, and given that there's a good chance I can't fix it (I don't want to get into reballing or things like that), I decide to list it on eBay, as opening the case doesn't show any tell-tale signs of a problem that I could easily fix (but I did not take the motherboard shield off). I posted it, mentioned the case has cracks in it, took pictures of the cracks, and sold it in a day.

It gets to the buyer, who then requests a return and says "The case is too damaged!" (what?? I took pictures of the damage...). Additionally, he complains that it's full of cockroaches, and calls me a liar and dishonest seller for sending it to him. I feel bad about sending a PS4 full of cockroaches (if he's telling the truth), and I would've thrown the whole system away if I knew, but I didn't see cockroaches when I took it apart, but again I did not take the motherboard shield off. I don't really think it's my responsibility to tear down a broken console before selling it to check for things like that, but I offered a full return or partial refund option just to keep him happy. Just always figured broken stuff is a pretty safe sale...

Thoughts? What would have you guys done?

Ebay makes sellers refund the money upon return of the item so there really isn't much more anybody could've done than offer a full return or partial option. He basically is claiming damage that he didn't see which Ebay will just side with the buyer. It sucks you had to go through that. Waste of time and money.

Yup   he ended up taking a partial refund, which is better than nothing but still sucks.

It's not just SNES, most of the consoles have people selling repro games on ebay. I've been seeing them on there as early as 2012, but they may have been on there even longer
