Hello all.

I have a website and we play Tecmo Super Bowl competitively on it. The majority (if not all at this point) of the people on it live in  he area, so we all play each other in person quite frequently.

I was wondering if anybody knew of any free and good programs that would be able to record video of our games off the computer (using an NES emulator)... preferably one that doesn't make it lag to hell.

Any help/links would be great.

Thanks!

1) I thought most emulators already had an option to record .avi files?
2) You can make a key input (*.smv for snes for example) of you playing the game, which you can use to replay the "movie". It's very popular in the TAS (tool assisted speedrun) world.

Well, Nesticle and nnnesterj have recording things. The latter is pretty much worthless, as the only decent video I have been able to record over time was on a miniature screen - all hell broke loose when going full, which we need to play on.

I believe Nesticle does something like you have mentioned about recording a "movie". How would I go about turning that into a legit file, say... .wmv, .avi, .mpg, etc?

Yeah, NESticle & Nestopia are the only 2 emulators used in the TSB Online world... cause of Kaillera and P2P stuff. So sadly, those are the only 2 I have.

Thanks for the link. Checking that out now!

Doh, I just read the latest release note in that "Network play is not presently functional. Fixing it is a high priority. "
But at least this project is alive and kicking. The last release was a couple of months ago. Nesticle has been dead for a long time if I recall correctly.

Yeah, I think NESticle has been dead since like 2000 or something. A lot of the community still uses it though. NEStopia seems to be overtaking it finally for online TSB.

PS, I think this Emulator might do the trick. Works a lot better than say, nnnesterj.

Cool yeah I just re-read your OP where you said you played in person, not over the network. Hope it works! Fceux is definitley the best NES emulator I've ever used.
