I was stuck at home yesterday so I was able to play pretty much all day. Those tips were a huge help since I was missing out on two of the best point pressing areas in the game.

Point grinding is sooo tedious in this game I can hardly stand it!

Even though I bombed out in 5-2 for the contest, I was able to continue on and 1CC this game for the first time!

Also fun fact!  There is a sound effect when you hit whatever drops the powerups.  Most of the time you never hear it because the sound of your sword overrides it!

Just wanted to give a big thanks to dra600n. I don't think these scores would be as high as they are without your helpful video. I may have been able to hit a million anyway,(was around the high 700k range before watching it) but his video made it a lot eaiser to accomplish.

Okay everyone, it's prize time!  The random prize up for grabs this time around is Tiger-Heli for the NES.  The game has been cleaned and tested and worked the very first time I put it in my NES.  The cart is free of writing and stickers and the label has no rips or tears.  The winner of the game will not be disappointed   As always, everyone who participated in the Ninja Gaiden contest last week will be assigned a number.  I will use a random number generator to determine the winner.  The only person exempt from the drawing is BilltownSparty since he won the last random prize.  First off, here is a picture of the game:

For the heck of it, I popped in the game last night and tried to see how high a score I could get playing by these rules, and never having played for high score before and not knowing any of the good grinding spots beforehand. I managed to beat the game with around 456,000 and I had to loop act 6 twice to do it. If I hadn't stupidly lost a life in 6-3, I could have looped act 6 at least one more time for a much higher score.

Dra600n's video is awesome, BTW. And a very helpful tutorial on getting a high score (I didn't watch it until after my own attempt.) I like how he played baseball with the final boss's fireballs until the timer ran out.

The first "Ninja Gaiden" is so chintzy with points compared to the sequels. You can easily roll the score by the end of the second and third games without even trying.
