Well, I'm at it again.  With Siamond squared, I did up some work on a planned game today and have something to show off.

The game is a clone of Columns, which was a pretty cool Sega game and labeled as a Tetris spinoff (although I don't see it that way entirely).

The screenshot shows a simple bit of the game screen thus far.  Right now I've got it so you can move the piece around, it doesn't go out of bounds, you can press down to make it drop faster, and you can press A or B to rotate the tiles.

You can't actually make lines yet.  The piece merely falls through the bottom and comes back out the top!  Heh.  I'll be at work on this though, so you may see a demo soon.

I'm afraid that title would fall into the hands of the Sega Nomad (coincidentally, another platform that had a Columns release for it)...35 minutes with 6 brand-new AA batteries (I timed it).

Looking good thus far, Sivak.  Looks strangely similar to a cross between Columns and Yahtzee...

^^^ that would be an awesome idea. With scoring based on poker hands, and the need to eliminate lines of 5 blocks at a time.

I will be first in line to buy 1 or all of them. Very excited.

Would be awesome if you could play 2 player like Columns. that was my favorite.

It would definitely be an added challenge...and it'd make it one game I'd have to play.  I'm a fan of Yahtzee, myself .

I've made some progress. Blocks can now be stacked and can be kept from bumping into each other, though you can't make 3 in a row yet.

So you're going to keep it 3 in a row (or more) a la columns?

I think you should definitely follow our suggestions for a more "Yahtzee-like" rule set.  It would add a twist to the genre.

Also...are the other two games available somehow?  I know Geminim was an LE...but did it see a standard release?

The game will follow the Sega game mainly.  The dice tiles were just a simple to draw thing, though I've replaced them with some simpler squares that have numbers on them.

Gem standard will be out when the white clear cart shells are availabled.  Siamond LE will be out soon.  I'll be posting an official signup thread when I know more.  A few people have been guaranteed a copy, but there are still more to go.
