LOL, no, no, no, let me be very clear here: I've already invested a lot of time in that bitch. It's comin' out! It's taking longer than I'd hoped, simply because I'm trying to be thorough and very particular in the way that it works. I want it to be something I want to use, and that's proving to be at a level of difficulty that I hadn't anticipated. That, and I have limited chunks of time to work on it

I hope you NES collectors trust me when I say this: it will be well worth the wait.

No, in all seriousness... I can't wait for this tool to log my collection and help me with what I am missing. I especially hope it helps with all the versions of a game, specifically all the regions. I have been buying up PAL and such CIB like mad lately but it's so hard to track all the region codes for the games. I hope to be able to use this tool to be able to quickly glance at it and know if I need the -AUS versioin or the -GPS version, etc. I think that will be a huge help!

I'm really excited about this as well. A feature I'd really like is if you could compare against others and know exactly who has what you need and if they have any extras right down to the smallest variation.

Yep and yep -- both of those are going to be part of it. The latter may come slightly after the tool is released for public inspection, but it only makes sense since people won't have much populated at least for a few weeks.

LOL, somehow I knew you'd say that I think Jason would also burn the proverbial midnight oil the moment it's released. Heck, I plan to have mine *done* when the tool is released! But that's really because I need to make sure it works

Hey Dain,

2 questions I have been wondering about on the tool:

1) Will we be able to fill in the condition of the item so we can track wether we need to upgrade an item?

2) Will we be able to fill in the code for the box, cart, and book? I would like to be able to track all of this to know if I have them all. Would be a good way to come up with variants as well when people fill them in. This would come in very handy. For example today I got in a CIB Super Mario Bros 3 UKV version. The cart is -UKV, the book is -UKV-3, and the box was -UKV-4 SHEESH!!

For the physical quality of items in your collection(s), you can specify a threshold in which to flag items to be placed in your "upgrade" list (items that you want to eventually find better quality copies of). For example, if your threshold is set to 7, anytime you add an item to your collection that you rate as being 7 or below (quality rating), it's automatically flagged as an upgrade item. This creates an intrinsic pseudo list of items that you want to eventually upgrade, without having to explicitly create one. So when you (or someone else) clicks on your upgrade list, all items that match that fail that threshold are shown. Note that you can manually add an item to your upgrade list as well (you might have a game that is rated an 8, but it's one you eventually want mint).

As for the variants, yep -- there will be a way to say, "Hey, this isn't in the database" which will then be added to a queue that an admin will approve to be added. Once added, it will then get placed in your collection.

Yep, still in the works. I've had to take a break from it for a few weeks due to a busy schedule, but it's definitely in the works.

Even tho my collection is so puny compared to you guys, after reading what dain has in store with this collection tool, im pretty excited about it! As far as variants and whatnot, its all greek to me, so to have a tool that shows me what games have variants and what variants they are, pretty damn neat!
