The word "Bros." is left justified instead of under the "O" in Mario.

It's the first version....has the "Miss twice and your out" spelling error in the matching game.

JawKnee:  Not particularly. This is the original run of this game; the later ones had the "Bros." shifted right and had a "-1" added to the code. It is a good bit rarer than its later counterpart, but it's by no means rare (maybe 4 or 5 of the "-1" variant to this variant's 1), even CIB.

Hmmm, I've never seen such a variant. I'm curious as to how scarce this might actually be? But, considering I've never even heard of one, let alone seen one... I'm sure they are indeed quite rare! Nice find

They are less common than the revised version for sure, I would not call them rare though. There are several differences in the game, as far as I know they are all text revisions. Its a variant that actually makes sense to pick up though since the actual game has differences.

I have a -1 copy that has all of the text found in the original launch version.

Maybe so but anyone could have swapped the boards for any number of reasons.

There are actually 3 versions of SMB3. "bros" is placed in 3 different places. This isn't rare by any means though, pretty easy to track down really. For $10 bucks though, it is worth snagging for a variant collector to save yourself from searching.

I used to collect variants for new, but then it came ot boxing the games I had....how would you know let alone keep track of what game is in what box when you almost have every game boxed? I even had the mike tyson five screw...but traded it off i think cause i dropped the variants and added the ones that i need to complete the nes collection....even working on getting sonic for nes soon from a guy in canada...

That game is just a crappy pirate.  You can buy it for something like $25-$30 (at the most).

Back on topic:
-  I had known about the variant artwork, but had never heard about the in-game text differences.  Very cool.  Good luck with the sale!
