Don't follow soccer/futbol really at all but the World Cup is always so fun to watch. Call me a bandwagon jumper, but I get all tingly inside about national pride and all that jazz. World Cup > Olympics.

That being said, Dae-Han-Min-Guk!

It's funny because I know someone pretty much exactly like this. Right down to saying the same thing slower when I ask what the hell he's talking about.

That said, I always make time for the world cup (and the Euro cup, and other professional games if I happen to catch them).

Also I don't particulary care who wins. My mom's from Australia and my dad's half Italian so there's plenty of annoying shit going on around me already.

An Italian player took a dive in every match in every world cup ever I think! Possibly even on every play, though I suppose if you play enough you're bound to get tackled for real now and then.

Some family members became conspiracy theorists about that call/goal (FIFA *wants* Italy to advance so they get the calls). The rest told them to "heyyyy, forget about it" and made them eat pasta because they're too skinny.

I'm going for Brazil (obviously), Germany and US.
Out of those, US is the underdog, but it must be kept in mind that they made it to the finals at the Confederations Cup last year, taking out the all powerful Spain at the semi finals.

The obvious choice would be brazil and spain.
Most effective player...hmm i hope kaka will shine again, also the spanish midfielders fabregas, iniesta and xavi.
I'm also looking forward to see what messi can do for his country.

I'm super pumped for the World Cup. I even got cable so I can actually watch it.

Naturally I'm pulling for the USA. They've got serious potential this year and for once a pretty fair group.

Im pulling for USA and South Korea. Hopefully, USA can win against England. Don't really have high hopes for Korea this year sadly. I think one of CAF group (strongly think maybe South Africa or Ghana) might pull some surprises.
Predictions:
Group A, South Africa and France
Group B, Argentina nad Nigeria
Group C, England and USA
Group D, Germany and Ghana
Group E, Denmark and Japan
Group F, Italy and ???
Group G, Brazil and Portugal
Group H, Spain and Switzerland

Also, how the hell did North Korea qualify?

Would obviously love to see England win it, but I forsee more penalty shootout troubles in the knockout stages.  I have money on Argentina the team is chock-full of attacking flair, but Maradona is an idiot and a cheat (yes the 'hand of God' incident 1986 still angers everyone in England) and also  very inexperienced manager.  On paper the strongest sides are Brazil and Spain, my great hope for England is that Fabio Capello has the tactical knowhow to make decisive decisions in close games.

England, how can i miss that. I'm pretty sure they can go far in this tournament. Great set of players, amazing coach. Argentina got a lot of really good and potential players, but im not sure whether its because of maradona or something else. They dont have the chemistry like the brazillians and the spaniards.
