I found an interesting controller today..well three actually.

I found a very strange grey with thin handles GameCube controller. I saw some prototype controller on the internet that looks similar except that it is purple and has a tiny red square button in the center (where start normally is), and that controller has a crappy d-pad.

It has a tiny red button where the crappy d-pad normally is. On the button, it reads Menu.
The cable coming out the back has a phone type connector vs the normal Game Cube plug.

I took some pics comparing it to my hot and spicy normal GameCube controller.
Was this one of those controllers that hook up to a TV in hotel rooms or is it an early prototype controller?

Looks like prerelease controller. It is not the hotel/motel .

Yeah, I just conferred with the guys over at DigitPress. This is definitely an early dev kit or prototype controller. If you guys have any questions, let me know.

I'm guessing the 3/4 means that it's the 3rd in a series of 4 like it.

Yep, its a prototype controller.

The 3/4 was due to a kit that was "3/4" speed.

Some people have been asking about the controller again. I found another proto at the same place. I believe this model is one of the more final designs as it can actually hook into a retail GameCube and work--rumble and all. Here's a pic of the other one. It is purple / indigo like the unique launch color of the GameCube.

Notice the d-pad is there. But the B-button, start, and z-button are not finalized. Notice the fatter analog stick cap. It still has a wide grip with thin handles.

Was gonna say, I've seen the hotel controller. I attempted to play some games when I stayed at the Wolf's Den Lodge in Wisconsin Dells back in 2008. Those are definitely not it.
The hotel services offered game services at irate prices (30 bucks an hour for a game!), and the cord resembled that of a telephone cord from the 80s. Very short in length.

I can't imagine wanting to own one of those...

I've attached a photo I took of the hotel controller from my stay all those years ago.

Looks far different from your average GC controller.

No, silly! The one that can (quote) "hook into a retail Gamecube and work--rumble and all." (Unquote) That's the one that I am willing to pay $30.99 for.

30$ an hour?  Hope they at least kiss you before they stick it to you that hard.

Everyone of those controllers (in a hotel) I have ever picked up has been thrashed beyond belief.  I feel bad for the poor soul trying to play a game for 30.00 an hour with a stick that loose.

Well y9784, shall the controller be sold to me, or shall this protoculture forum discussion page go to waste?

Yes. Lol I guess if I had to choose I'd say the proto. Gamecube controllers in general just looks so ugly, its impressive that there are uglier models still.

That big analogue stick looks good...having two of those, to replace the standard one and the c stick would be nice.

My birthday is coming up in 15 days. If y9784 is reading this & still has that beta controller (the one that's the standard indigo blue color, not the white one), please send this controller to PO Box 796, Inverness NS, 90210, B0E 1N0. And remember to mail the Gamecube controller in as soon as possible for my birthday (July 20). I won't argue if it comes in earlier or later, I just want y9784 to mail the Prototype Gamecube Controller (the indigo blue one) at the address that you might have read earlier. Please, it'll be my birthday soon, just please mail in the controller. I'll take good care of it.
