I decided to give Smash TV another try tonight and I finally beat this game.  I had 2 lives left at the host and ended up losing 1, so I ended up beating him with my last life.  Needless to say I was very nervous because he almost got me a couple of times on my last life.  This could be the last time I'll be playing this game for the week.  I don't know if I'll be able to do any better, plus my left thumb is sore.

Score at game completion: 12,329,910

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

Holy shit Bimmy! How the hell did you get such a high score, that's almost a million points higher than my best. I figured if someone passed mine it might be a couple hundred thousand at most, but that much, geez, my score got crushed! I gotta think this over, take Solomon's Key out to try to take back my first place spot or settle for 2nd or possibly worst...hmm.

I got really lucky. I hit three prize rooms & grabbed all the packages and cash I could in the other stages. I took a lot of chances and lost a few lives needlessly just to get some of these items.

I got one prize room per circuit, killed everything minus some of those Mr. Shrapnels and worthless snakes, nabbed I'd say over 95% of the prizes that showed up and still nothing close to your score. There's something I was missing, I'm sure of it. I think I need to put this game back into my NES and give it another go, at least to experiment, because while I thought I may have grabbed almost everything along the way, aparently I hadn't. I got my work cut out for me now, the game was too easy to beat, its the other contestants that are going to be hard to beat.

I think part of my score had to do with the path I took through each arena. I think some rooms have more enemies than others. I tried to hit rooms that I thought had a lot of enemies, thus giving me the opportunity to get a higher score.

I think you're right about that. I gave it a go, and don't know how, but I beat your score, by just a little over a million. Whew. My life was hanging by a thread this game, I was totally clumsy and was playing through half of the third circuit with no lives, and so happened to get an extra life in every or every other room, giving me just one more chance to stay in the game, and then to have it taken away almost immediately after. Thankfully that last boss is relatively easy, I beat the game with no lives left. I was lucky. I don't know if I could bear to try this again, this game was rough, I took far too many risks to pull off that score, and my nerves are shot to hell.

Twin Galaxies is a pain in the butt.

You didn't have the ability to plug in your camera?

no. don't have that option. or, if i do, i don't have the cable for it

I don't have a camcorder right now to record them, and my cameras don't work long enough to get most scores.

Simple Solution:
You can run your NES signal through a VCR and just record it straight to VHS while you play.
Thats how I roll. None of that fancy technology those kids these days are using. Whippersnappers.

Your scores are giving me a headache right now.
I don't have much time these days to play, so I'll have to be near of perfection if I wish to get in your rank.

If you beat this score I think you'll have me whooped. I'm tired. Probably'll be the last I give it, even if I'm beat, besides, I'm sure a few last minute posters will come in and crush both our scores 5 minutes to end of contest on Sunday. Still, I think I performed exceptionally well with this game with a score worth showing off even if it does happen to get toppled.

Alright, well I love this game. I really wish there was more than just 3 levels though. The bosses were too easy too. I think I still had 4 lives left after this run. Key Room 1 was definitely my least favorite room in the game.

Here's my best run. I'm guessing anyone that can beat my high score figured out the same trick I did with getting extra points

That's the only game I could afford in all the weekend, I hope it will stand up to the standard.

I sincerely enjoyed playing that game throughout the week. Thanks for this pick Jeremy.

EDIT: FINAL SCORE: 12,516,630

I had a few theories to test out but really lacked of playtime during the week to try anything serious.

Maybe there's a way to kill more minor enemies by not defeating quickly the major enemies in a room.
Let me know your trick Robbie I'm curious!

And, I  was very disappointed since there's no secret room in the game, unlike in Super Smash TV, or am I wrong and we must access them differently?

the trick in getting 13mil +, was in rooms with the easier enemies. what you do, is take care of the big swarms except for 5-6 of the grunts. as long as more enemies were going to spawn there, then prizes would continue to appear. but, as long as you didn't kill the grunts, they would hold off spawning more until you killed them. so you could just go in a circle picking up prizes indefinitely.

Man, that fuckin' blows. Here I thought I had til 10 central and started playing this a little over an hour ago to try to get in one final score, geez, glad that I didn't get crushed too badly while I was nearly an hour late posting my top score. Oh well, at least I didn't fall below second. Looks like me and you found the same method of racking points, only problem is that I discovered it too late and couldn't sit on racking for too long, as was it didn't matter because when I started the contest was ended. Shit. Oh well, posting my hour late score anyway since I worked so hard at it.

Wow, you guys cleaned up.

I had the same idea about the swarms, but wasn't sure how effective it was.

How long did it take to get your big score?

^ for me, i did it once in level 1 and once in level 3 for a total of maybe 2 hours of just point racking.

Fucking sucks that contest time was different, I kept thinking 10 o'clock. I could've serious been screwed by my lack of paying attention to reading the subtitles under the topic title. Even if it were 10pm I still would've only been second place, I'm just glad that I didn't come in here with my big score and find that I was knocked down out of the rankings an hour prior. For me I spent just a little over an hour on the score I got. I spent too long on Solomon's Key, if only I had started Smash T.V. earlier instead of playing that game I would've stuck around long enough in each room that I could collecting prizes until I reach 20 million points.

I thought changing the time was pointless also

Don't matter anyway, serves me right waiting til the last minute to play some more when I should've been trying to topple at least my scores all week. And this is why I don't like to risk the chance of posting anything within the last few hours of the end of contest. But again, at least I didn't fall but one rank. And here I was rushing my mom off the computer just to post my last score, big laugh on me.
