Of course. I thought this was the game that was the most well-known for having it.
 



Contra is the game that made it famous.  Gradius was the first game that actually used it.

Anyway, it's fairly easy to get max power ups by the end of level one anyway, so there shouldn't be any need for it...the only time would be after you die, which even then isn't really necessary...it just makes life a bit easier.

Thanks! Just seems like after that first life you're pretty much doomed. Ah well, I'm enjoying getting better at this game. Just made 87100. I'll probably try some more later tonight.

You wanna get real good, try playing it without powerups as long as possible. Probably won't get past the volcanoes on level one, but you never know. If you can pull it off, you should have no difficulty getting through when powered up. Also, almost 20K more on the next attempt, that's a nice little boost! Good luck man

I'd suggest Laser, Missile, Option, Option, ?, Speed, Speed, Speed, and then leave the cursor on ? until your shield wears off so you can get another one.

I'm just getting warmed up. Pretty sure I can flip it 2-3 times if I practice up. Not sure I'll have a lot of gaming time tis week but I'm going to try to play a few times each night during bath time for the kids

Looping it 3 times would be impressive.  I have looped it two times, but that was several years back.  And I think I only did it that one time.
