What's going on? There were like 2 of these on ebay last year, and this year I've seen about 7, but after I finally got one. What's this M82 conspiracy against me?!

Yeah they have been popping up left and right lately but surprisingly enough they've held their value quite well.

These things are cool. Airwolf and Star Voyager, though? Who would choose to display those?

There was a $950 BIN on one a few months back that was shipping from Mexico. It lasted for about 4 days before someone snagged it. It looked legit.

Not really.  You may be thinking of the Stack Up M8 that we all went crazy over a few months ago.  Won by Pooch I believe.

What exactly is the difference with the pal version? It looks completely the same except for the power switch which is red instead of black on a pal one.

There is no different color of powerswitches for the PAL/NTSC versions. Through the lifetime of the M82 there where some different power and rotaryswitches (for time select) implemented. It depends on the "day of birth" of the M82 what switches are implemented.

Differences of a PAL/NTSC are internal:

CPU / PPC / CIC

Powersupply is exactly the same in PAL/NTSC. It's jumper-wired to 110V or 220V.

I just want to add that the prongs on the power cord are of course different.

LOL, even here in Europe we have different prongs, UK and Mainland (maybe south of Europe also have differences like Italy, but I'm not sure about it).

@Pat, nice Youtube vids. Especially the one about the M82

They're both generally between $800 and $1100...  The M8 with Stack-Up, however, is a notable bit rarer, and would likely command quite a bit more at auction (the last one went for something like $4300, if I remember correctly).

It has the game "Stack-Up" onboard.
