I wanted to get a Super Famicom to Famicom adapter, and use it on my SNES, since I took the tabs off to play some Super Famicom games I've got. Would that adapter, which apparently is made by the same people who make the Retro Bit SNES adapter, work well with the FDS RAM cart? My Twin Famicom's power adapter is broken, and I'm looking for a cheaper way of playing FDS games, with all of the expanded sounds, than buying an actual Famicom system. The cheapest price I've seen, for a broken, yellow Famicom, was $70 U.S. plus shipping. The adapter, brand new in box, is the same price WITH shipping.

I've been wanting to take off those plastic tabs off my Super Nintentdo to play some SFC games. (Once I get a job and start collecting again)

Quick question: Does this cause any problems? - I've read it doesnt. (Correct me If I'm wrong)

If it's not a good idea would it be a better idea to buy an adapter? If so which adapter?

Thanks!

They are only there to block SFC carts from physically making it into the slot. Breaking them off does absolutely no harm.

It doesn't cause much of a problem, but on my original SNES after a few years I found the games were flopping around in there back and forward and would lose connection pretty easily due to the lack of support so I'd wedge a piece of paper folded over in there to tighten it which kind of sucked.

So you want to plag an FDS into a Famicom to Super Famicom "Adapter", and plug that into a slightly modded SNES. As I understand it, thos Famicom Adapters are entire consoles that get their power from the Super Fami/SNES. The question is whether or not the FDS would work on that adapter. Ask the manufacturer, or try it out.

What exactly is a "FDS"?

Good to know, thanks.

Ha, the OP hasn't even replied.

As others have said, the question is whether the FDS's RAM adapter would work with the NES cartridge adapter, as it is a complete console, condensed into a single chip and put in a cartridge. The SNES is completely unnecessary.

The pictue of the SNES is close, but not quite. Take away the pin converter, as this is a FAMICOM converter, not an NES one. Also, I'm wondering if it would also work on SNES clones, since the adapter works directly with the Super Retro Trio, no A/V adapter needed.

Again the question is whether the FDS will work with the NES/FC adapter, not the SNES. I have not yet tried the FDS RAM adapter on the RetroPort as mine uses an NES slot and I don't have a 60 to 72 pin adapter.

If someone can confirm that the FDS works on a Famiclone then I don't see there being too much of a gamble it would work on a Retroport.
