Interesting question....
A) Gun.Smoke, Shatterhand, Dragon Spirit. Tough choice. All have very different reasons for being #1 in their (personal) "category".
B)
Chip & Dale, Duck Tales, and/or Battletoads/Double Dragon.
C) Double Dragon.... Adventure Island, Ninja Gaiden, TMNT (Could be in C or D???) Skate or Die, & Batman get honourable mentions. Contra would have been the easy favourite had Contra Force been a true 'sequel' and not a piece of shit.
D) Mega Man...
Lots of different technicalities here. But interesting to discuss none the less.
For example.... Does TMNT count as a trilogy or a series? Tournament Fighters isn't really connected, neither is one, gameplay wise... Contra. Enough said.
Also, for Category A and a game that had no sequel... do you mean EVER? No sequel on SNES, nothing??? That makes that category much more interesting. Thus I tried to answer it as such.
Only ONE #1... haha... that's almost impossible on NES.

I totally forgot about Contra Force. I forget that it exists.
Haha I wasn't sure whether or not I should mention it because am not sure everyone would agree it would count as a trilogy or duology. Batman games are the other one that I thought - does it count?

A) Bucky O'Hare
B) Power Blade 1 & 2 (Contra Force makes the Contra series a trilogy, IMO).
C) Ninja Gaiden
D) Mega Man
No real fan of Contra counts that piece of shit.
Okay... you know what? I prefer this.
Let's just ALL agree to disregard Contra Force and we will all agree to consider Contra/Super C a "Duology".
I'm far more comfortable with this than always having to leave Contra/Super C out of these conversations. They are so good they don't deserve such treatment. Me when I have to leave Contra/Super C out.
