Probably not thread worthy, but hey were on NA on Friday night (to be fair my security countermeasures class didnt end til after 10pm and is a 40 min drive home).

Anyway, I collect games to play mainly, and the other day I randomly ended up playing snow bros. I knew about the game a little, but I instantly LOVED it, and decided I needed a copy....then I looked up the price...DAMNIT! good thing nes is the only system I can handle cart only...

I thought rare games were supposed to be shit! damn you snow bros, fire and ice, and mr gimick....

A lot of them are shit, unfortunately some of them like that one isn't. There's a reason when late last year I saw a craigslist post saying NES w/Super Mario Bros 3, Castlevania, Gradius, Bonk, 17 games - $50 that I clicked that sucker and called within 10min of it going up. Bonk has been a steady $60-70 type game so I jumped at it. I'd never pay that alone, just can't justify it on a budget, but when I can find stuff like that and there's a heap of pad I can turn around and make it free + profit I'm there.

Sadly that's what you and I got to do in cases like Snow Bros. I'd love a copy, but until I find some clueless thrift shop, flea market non-ebay pricer, or unknowing/caring craigslister it's off my list so I don't let it bug me.

If they were in that $10-20 range I'd have kept(had it) Duck Tales 2, but also got Rescue Rangers 2, Snow Bros, Dragon Warrior 3 and 4, and some other high ball titles as they are good. I've kind of given up, at this rate I'm going for a powerpak as it's cheaper in the long run, but if I ever do stumble on a gem cheap it's mine.

Yup...it's a pisser. I run emulators, to trial a lot of games, and try to trigger some memories, and sometimes, I wish I hadn't. It will eventually kick in my Gaming OCD, and set me out on a mission to buy it, and sometimes bites me in the arse.

I do the same thing. I just wish I hadn't gotten rid of my original CIB NES games from my childhood because now I miss them and am buying them back for a lot more money. Plus I took really good care of them so they were very much mint. I also wish I would have kept those 2 mint sealed copies of Chrono Trigger I had bought off this now defunct website for $80 a piece.

powerpaks are amazing. I love them for playing translations and stuff, or rediculous games Ill never own (caltron/myriad, cheetman 2, nwc) but games that I really like playing, I just gotta have that real copy...so now I add snow bros to my list of about 200+ games I want to buy....sure hope this summer is as good as last summer, where all my games ended up being free because of flipping!

nes/snes guide.com is a great place to get a few facts and a 10min gameplay video of some stuff. If you can sit on a video for 10min if you're on the fence it probably will help you go one way or the other.

I do hate it when I find a new game or strategy guide I need and it turns out much more expensive than I expected. A couple of the recent PS3 RPGs are going for full retail price or slightly over...for used copies o_O . If I wanted to pay $60-$70 for it, I'd just go to a GameStop and get it, ya know?  (Hyperdimension Neptunia and Ar Tonelico Qoga...I'm looking at you two ...).

Snow Brothers is the last NES CIB that I'd really like to add to the collection. So believe me, I know your pain. And it's worse now because it used to be about $150 CIB and now breaks $200 easily, if not $250. Obviously I'm not willing to pay that, so I'll be waiting a long time to find one at a bargain or find one in a lot.

But I also don't really play hardly any of my collection anymore, so it's not a priority. I'm lucky in that respect.

You forgot Little Samson.  That game is a keeper.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Bubble Bobble 2 is one of those for me. Maybe if I get the Powerpak, but it's just as expensive. And cheating.

I recently fell in love with Earthbound for the NES. I then decided I wanted the SNES game as well, but that one cost a bit... Also want E.V.O. for SNES. Well, better work a lot of overtime at work to earn some extra cash.
