Hello NA, thanks for having me.
TL;DR: I want games again, look at my want/trade collections.
I grew up playing Nintendo, but dropped off in high school and college. Although I did still open NESticle from time to time.
Later I started to get nostalgic for it and grabbed the collection from my parents' house. I didn't know much about maintaining the games or the console. I kept them in sleeves, had an old school cleaning kit, and avoided blowing, but that was it. So the front loader was a pain. I mentioned it to a friend, who that xmas gave me a Dreamcast with an emulator and every NES/FC game on a CD. Wow, amazing! This was in about 2002. So I stupidly gave away my Nintendo and games to somebody else. I took a while going through that disc, making lists of games that were good, interesting, or historically significant, and eliminating the files that fit none of those, as well as duplicates and Japan-only text-heavy stuff. The plus side is I did discover some awesome games I didn't know about back in the day, like Defender II and Journey to Silius.
Eventually I started to miss light gun games. I also noticed that the emulator allowed me to have gaming ADD. I could speed up through death sequences, rewind when I made a mistake, etc. And I could switch games in two seconds...I felt like the experience of playing Nintendo was degraded in this way. I staved off the desire to return to original hardware for some years. I thought it would be too expensive. Well, I've recently decided I just have to have it; now, of course I am kicking myself for waiting so long.
