No. Would be cool with a top-down collection though!

I write shorthand reviews of every classic game I beat on The Backloggery, have a look-see.

Dang.  I really only ever play my handhelds anymore.  It would be awesome to have Zelda, Link, and LttP at least for my 3ds.  I have OoT already, of course, and will be buying MM soon, but I want the earlier games too.  Oh well.  Thanks for the reply.

The closest was ALTTP/Four Swords on GBA.

Zelda games are a little too long and involved to make good compilation I find. Zelda Collector's Edition basically appealed to two mutually exclusive camps and in the case of OOT/MM, both of those on one disc was possibly too much, without even considering Zelda 1 and 2.

You could also buy a 3DS, there's Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and A Link Between Worlds on card. On the eShop there's Link's Awakening DX, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, Zelda 1 and The Adventure of Link. There was also Four Swords Anniversary Edition that was limited and Minish Cap on the 3DS Ambassador program. All in all the 3DS has a nice Zelda selection, only notable classic missing is A Link to the Past.

A Link to The Past on the GBA is about as good as it gets for me.

This is some solid advice. There's no shortage of Zelda titles the 3DS

Zelda and Zelda II Link's adventure NES are on 3ds dude. Go to the eshop virtual console. They are there.

This is as close as its going to get to a handheld Zelda collection. Nintendo will probably never release a zelda collection when they can sell them individually on eShop.

I forgot to mention that the DS Zeldas are also compatible on the 3DS, so add on Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks to that total.

Dingoo or GCW Zero. Emulating is helpful for collections that don't exist.

I was using the amiga versions on it, but couldn't get them to start right.  Found out it had a but in the release I used, joystick buttons didn't register.  So that was my issue, need to try it again sometime.

You can get Legend of Zelda and Adventure of Link on the 3DS e-shop, but no Link to the Past, unfortunately.

Is the GBA the only reliable method of getting A Link to The Past on a handheld...?

Yes, if going by original Nintendo releases.
