I used to have the money record on Twin Galaxies back in like 2006, registered it all and everything. $11,391,000. The record stood for 6 months before being bettered. Can I use that as my score?

http://www.twingalaxies.com/score...

Edit: Also since I do have a Twin Galaxies score and it used to be a record, is it possible to get the icon below my sig to signify that?

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

Hey Jockeybro. Scores must be made within the week of the competition, so we can't consider your twingalaxies score for the week. You should be able to get the icon, contact a mod or an admin to get it.

Out of curiosity I looked back at my score last time we held a contest : http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/...

$13,310,000, which would be 3rd on twingalaxies, not bad.

As much as I want to compete in the second season, I should probably take a break and spend more of my late-summer and fall weekends catching up on house projects

Can't win a 2nd puzzle genre icon this year, anyway

I hope to be back in it for 1st season of 2015!

So I put in a few hours on this tonight and had a good run where I had over 10 million. So I get to the final boss and I'm going to pause it to take a picture forgetting that stupid item list pops up when you pause,so I go to unpause while thinking what to do.....and hit the select button.....and lose 3 million dollars.

It's probably good that I don't have the cart as I feel like smashing it into tiny pieces at the moment. What's worse is that I don't remember if you get any money for collecting the treasure at the end. Can't believe I just wasted a couple of hours for something BS like that to happen. And now I won't be able to play again until thursday,so this garbage is going to bug me until I can actually accomplish what I should have done tonight.

So freaking irritated right now...... F you Duck Tales and your idiotic money for health feature.

Well I'm down with participating in the new contest. I know looking at the game list that there's nothing I'm particularly good at this time around.

I've beaten Duck Tales before but never on Hard and I barely remember the game at all, except for that sweet savory Moon music!

8,817,000 game complete...had to adjust to the controls from playing the remastered one but love this one!  I remember where the 2 hidden treasures in African Mines and the Moon level but couldn't remember the others. This might be my only score since I'm ok with this score but I know I could imporve after finding all the hidden treasure. Still, awesome to play this one again love to hear that theme at the end.

EDIT:  New score in new post

Also, as a suggestion Bimmy,I took my picture at the beginning of the last stage to show that I had more than 0 lives, since you can't get any more money on that stage (at least to my knowledge, someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).  Might want to have people take the picture there rather than after defeating Dracula Duck.

Couldn't help myself but to give it a try, since I haven't played this game in forever.
(doesn't mean I'm going to compete in everything this time around... but this game was too fun to not play, and since I whipped out this score after 3 attempts, I figured, why not post it )

11,771,000

Managed to get all of the hidden treasures (I think ) AND all of the Launchpad/Gyro bonus rounds.

Not sure where the extra points would come from to get into the 13mil range, outside of some serious point-pressing on enemies that generate the 10,000 pt gems. 130+ gems is a heck of a lot of point-pressing, though.

Plenty of reserve lives to burn out timers with, though, I suppose.

I really don't think I missed any red gems, and I made sure to get pretty darn close to the max available before hitting Launchpad each time, so I doubt I left over 1 mil on the table that way.

EDIT:  didn't some digging online... looks like there is some kind of time bonus trick that can give you 325k extra per level.  That must be the only thing meaningful that I've missed, and would add up to 1.5mil if done correctly (taking my score to over 13 mil like Guillavoie pulled off in the past)

I think that is correct.

You're right that taking the picture at the beginning of the last level makes the most sense.

Dracula Duck is a joke, anyway.

Just a hint... there is over 20k points hidden on that screen alone

Don't be shy about hitting EVERYTHING with golf swings to see what pops out.

Gave this a couple quick plays, but just couldn't put up a decent score. I feel like this is one of those games that I should like, but I just don't. I never played it as a kid so I don't have any nostalgic connection to it. It's a good game that just doesn't do anything for me. But I will give it another run through later this week and see if I can improve my score just the same.

So two observations --

1) from the Gyro bonus levels I have seen as little as 150k and as much as 300k... Does it depend on the world or something else?

2). Trying to get the timer glitch bonus is a HUGE time suck. You wait FOREVER for the timer to run down, and if you miss it you die and start over... if you miss it in the other direction you get no bonus and wasted all that time. Toughest 1.5mil in the game, IMO.

EDIT: Old score of 9,422,000

First time beating this on Hard!  I am barely familiar with this game and I know I missed many things since I didn't really know where I was going, so I should improve on this.

If you got that score without using Launchpad, then you didn't miss much.  I think there is only around 9.5 mil worth of stuff if you don't leave and come back.

That's correct.  I think I nailed the Amazon, Transylvania, and Moon stages.  I'm fairly sure I cleaned out the Himalayas but I thought I missed most of the African Mines stage.

Now that I understand how the bonus stages work as well as the timer glitch, I should be able to improve by a good amount.  I hope.
