So I found this pick up on CL. Included in the package:
1 NES Action Set (missing paperwork)
1 NES (no hookups)
10 Games - no amazing finds here just commons, mostly doubles for me

This is my first NES box find and I feel it was the prize of the lot, in fact the only reason I bought it. The box is in decent condition, not perfect. Corners are a little dinged and one tear on top right, but I'm happy with it. The picture makes the tear look much worse than it really is.

Strangely the NES that came with was smooth? I haven't seen this on a NES before, all I have felt have that kind of textured feel. Anyone have some info on why this is? I looked to see if its number (N4223184) was different than the other two I have, but it falls in between them so I don't know.

The second NES is a little yellowed, but works. I want to try the Retr0Brite technique to see if it cleans it up.

As I said the games are really common, Bubble Bobble being the only one I really wanted, but also glad to pick up another black box cart in Hogan's Alley.

Good finds. Smooth Nintendos are keepers cause they look so shiny and futuristic. http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/... Congratz!

Early NES units were smooth, my launch system is this way, but another I have from a couple years later is not.

The NES that I play on is smooth. My other NES (which I'm currently repairing) has the rough texture. Never noticed this before.

Smooth NES consoles are the way to go. My original from 1986 is smooth, and I have picked up a couple other smoothies from thrift stores over the years. The textured ones tend to have a dirtier look and are harder to clean.
