Is anyone else having trouble with the magician disappearing when his life meter gets down to half? He does this to me every time. He will throw a lil smoke screen bomb and that freezes me momentarily then he reappears just out of reach of punches. So when I stand up to move closer he throws a projectile killing me around 2 out of 3 times. Any ideas? Also my version (5 screw) doesn't have the colored tiles on the top. They are just black.
The Magician does the same thing to me at times. I find that he does his little disappearing move when you mash the punch button too fast. You want to hit him fast of course, but too fast makes him disappear. Try pausing slightly between punches and he shouldn't do it. My typical rhythm is punch-wait-punch-wait-punch-punch (you can get away with multiple punches when you KO him).

Oh yeah, want a real sadistic challenge?  Try waiting around until the clock runs low against this guy.  He will clone himself and attack from both sides of you.  Only one of them can be damaged too!

Not sure why the 5-screw game would be different.  Perhaps there are multiple versions of the game out there?  Wouldn't be the first time.

Good luck everyone!

Alright! Thanks rdrunner!!

It's no 3+ million but you helped me up my score a couple hundred thousand 😄👍👍

Thanks again!

Here is a video from Bishop Bros. (8-bit bishop here on Nintendoage) and the Nintendoage trophies he was commissioned to make by LukeAF24 for the Nintendoage Championships.
Luke generously funded the last 2 trophy builds himself, but NA is always looking for more donations (either monetary or game related) to keep this amazing tradition alive.

Top three finalists in each division have recieved these one of a kind trophies in the last 2 championships.

PM either bimmy_lee or guillavoie for more details if you'd like to donate and keep this tradition going!

Check out this vid of Bishop Bros.' newest creations for last seasons champions below!

Wow! This is awesome!

I'm still hoping I can get to the million point mark. I've been able to get far enough, but I just haven't been able to get those 12th enemy bonuses to fall my way. I'm hoping to get a few runs in this afternoon and hope at least one goes right for me.

Tetris championships?  That sounds like more fun than an individual should be allowed to have!   Good luck!

I finally broke the million point mark! Thanks for the tips and posting your video, I doubt I would have been able to pull it off otherwise.

Thanks for all the good luck.  We'll see what happens!  It's in Copenhagen, Denmark.  I'll do it for NA!  Pal is a little different than NTSC.  So, we'll see if that bites me.

I'll be back playing when I return!

Thanks! I keep having trouble getting past the high speed versions of the poison moths that start on the fourth loop, even though Tom covered them in his video. My last few runs have ended because of them.

serious score there dude, that 4th floor is terrible, worst part is if you die there and start over there are no points to rack up its just wasted lives

The total lack of points to be had in that area just adds to the frustration. I lost two lives there on the loop before and maybe had 5000 points to show for them.

You're a beast!  Honestly, most of you guys make me look like a n00b (lol). I am actually new to Kung Fu, believe it or not!  It's a fun game for sure. I had to put it down last night. Tom's tips are great, as usual... but I always have to re-adapt my game play style to them, and that takes time. I wonder what the score board will look like in a few days?!

Thanks, I'm sure you'll give it a run this week too. If Luke puts up 2 million like he said, there's no way I'm going to be able to touch that.

Man, had the opportunity of trying this today, and I have to say I'm very rusty.
I could beat the game easily D:
Time to practice I guess

I love this game. It was one of the first two NES games I got as a kid the xmas I got my first NES (the other being SMB1).

Played the hell out of it as a kid and still love it today. It's super simple but just good fun. it never really feels unfair either.

Love it.

This game has alot of fond memories for me as well :

This game is the first thing i ever played on nintendo, i was at jc penny in the monmouth mall and they had a M8 set up in the small electronics area and there was always a couple kids around waiting for a turn I dont remember exactly what other games were available, but i played kung fu master in the arcade and seeing how close this port looked like it, i was amazed. up to this point i had been playing donkey kong and space invaders on atari 2600. this was my first nintendo experience.

Got a few rounds in last night.  Best I've ever done by far!  I died on Mr X in the 3rd loop.
