Bert will probably show up with a score of 900,000 in "Pac-Man."

Bert is probably still playing on the same game since Sunday trying to see if the NES version has a kill screen on level 256 like the arcade.

When I go to make a turn, I just hold the d-pad down in the direction that I want to go right before I get to the opening and that's worked fine for me. I've always played that way (even with the arcade version), so that might be why I'm not noticing any control issues.

Winner winner chicken dinner

i do have an advantage but unlike its name it rarely is. Plus the joystick on mine is kinda busted? Idk it sticks and kinda grinds into the top left corner : /

FWIW, I finally played a game with my NES Advantage. For the most part it seemed to control really well, but I still think my joystick is a little looser than it should be, so I really had to bear down on it when turning.

I think I figured out the secret to a high score is trying to eat all the ghosts per power pellet, at least on the first two or three screens. On the later screens you probably want to concentrate more on survival.

This game is difficult for me. After the pellets are all gone, I know I'm probably going to die soon. But I'm having an easier time with the controls now that I know to press the button that I want to turn beforehand.

Eating all four ghosts on a single power pellet gives you 3000 points for a potential of 12k points per level from the ghosts alone. You can run up a pretty good score on the first few levels alone if you can pull it off.

Not sure how much time I will have this week to put up scores now that school is back in and MGC is this weekend.  Hopefully I can find time to improve it a bit.

Correct, if I don't get all 4 ghosts with all 4 power pellets I reset the game.....those points are way too easy to give up.

I used to be kinda good at this game and I am also struggling. I found I'm a bit faster on the d-pad than I am on the advantage joystick. I launched a few creatively loud swears myself last night. I'll try again with more whiskey... or maybe less whiskey... I forget which works better.

I tried to play some yesterday and my best score was in the 70k range. I seriously doubt that I'm going to pass 142k, but it's worth a few more tries.

Oh man! This game! I love pac-man but I can't seem to crack that 50k mark (it is only a matter of time though. Anyways for what it's worth I do have a few tips.
1- Always try and clear the bottom first, it's the place with the fewest escape routes.
2- Clear the left side next, those stupid ghosts always leave the box that way.
3- The T's above and below the box are your friend, the ghosts never go up, only down.
4- This ones for you Toxie😋 Never restart because you didn't accomplish something you think is necessary, you never know when you might just have the run of your life.
5- Take a break!!!! I like to practice up on games I'm bad at that are upcoming on the contest!
Anyhow that is my 2 cents on this game!
Good luck everyone!

Oh I know....like really it will just push me harder to try and overcome the shitty odds but I was really on a tight time limit last night.

Also, clearing the left side first is a helpful hint I will test that out later tonight!

Thanks to Richard's tips, I was able to raise my score to almost 40k. 50k now seems reachable.

Usually I'd keep that stuff to myself but I figured since I gave James Robots's mom those tips last night she was sure to share them with him.😜

He actually uses a completely different approach than I do. The idea of clearing the bottom row first is honestly something that I've never thought to try.
