Probably Konami overall, but Capcom has some games I really like.

Konami pretty easily for me. Capcom may have the overall best franchise in Megaman, but Konami has too many quality ones such as Contra, Castlevania, Gradius, TMNT, etc.

That's actually a very tough choice. I'd give the edge to Capcom, if only for Mega Man and DuckTales.

Castlevania and Contra sure make convincing cases for Konami though.

Konami. Contra franchise is greater than Mega Man franchise imo.

Konami and it isn't really that tough. This needs a poll though.

To be honest, Mega Man and Ducktales aren't even my first choices for Capcom games. I like some other titles of theirs a little better.

Funny, though, I am cleaning really stubborn marker off of a Bionic Commando cart right now. (BTW, if I ever find you, Chris Cotton, I'm beating you senseless for what you did to this cart.)

Yeah I can definitely see how the Mega Man games can be a bit polarizing.
DuckTales is a pretty amazingly fun game though, I think it nailed every part of what a fun platformer could and should be ^^

If we're talking about all throughout the years, definitely Capcom for me. Why, you ask? Well...

Capcom: Mega Man, Resident Evil, Breath of Fire, Street Fighter, Disney games, Phoenix Wright

as opposed to...

Konami: Castlevania, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Gradius, Goemon, Contra, Suikoden

Out of all the Konami franchises the only one I like with ANY consistency is Castlevania. I like almost every game in that franchise. Silent Hill 2 and 3 are the only good games in that series. The others I don't care for at all with one exception being Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon.

As far as capcom goes, I love almost all of their franchises. Classic Mega Man is always fun to play, even at its worst (7 or 10) as well as Mega Man X (1-6). Resident Evil was excellent from its start up through RE4 and including Revelations. 5 & 6 did not click with me. Breath of Fire 1 - 4 are excellent RPGs. Phoenix Wright is an excellent interactive story detective novel type game series. And who can forget the excellent DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Aladdin, Magical Quest and Little Nemo?

For me it's not even a contest. Capcom > Konami. In fact I'd go as far to say Capcom is my favorite third party developer by far.

I guess I find them pretty even on consoles, so I put the tiebreaker to arcades, and beat 'em ups are way better than fighting games in my book, so I'll give it to Konami!

I clicked on this thread thinking a new 2D fighter franchise was announced. I am so disappointed.

My son... gives me Helpful Nintendo Hints that are far too complex for the adult mind to comprehend. Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." And the hell of it is, I know he's right. - Dave Barry

Konami pre-2000, Capcom post-2000. I'd say Capcom overall, though.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned ghost n goblins in capcoms corner. Stinger is one of my favorite games. Never could get into castlevania or contra so its CAPCOM in my book.

This is a tough one. As partial as I am to the TMNT and Castlevania titles I would have to side with Capcom. Mega Man is pretty sweet but I am gravitating toward King of Dragons and Knights of the Round. Well, personally, but isn't that the point?

This really should be a poll so we can find out who all the wrong people are and beef with them. Black NA shirts vs white NA shirts, whaddaya say? I have both so I can switch sides easily, avoiding detection. You'll never know.

Are we talking full legacy, or just for the 8-bit generation?

Does anyone have a list of the games that each company released for each system? I'd love to see them side by side.

One one hand we have this classic:

and from Konami, we have the classic game I'm sure you all have played many times before:

Who could forget playing whatever the fuck this game was called.

Ok so maybe Konami sucked in the fighters, TMNT:TF being about the best they had, but they had the beat em ups.  Not like Capcom was well known for them.  Unless you count Final Fight.  Or the Knights\dragons games.  Or the two D&D games.  Ok, so maybe they kicked Konami's ass there too.

But when you talk about guys with WHIPS, Konami kicked ass there.

Honestly though, I'll give Konami some props.  They did a lot of shit most Konami fanboys don't even seem to know about, including having a VHS copy of Plan 9 from outer space in their game of the same name:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_9_from_Outer_Space_(video... )

They also did the kick ass Shao-Lin's Road\Kicker that never got any respect, or console ports, just home PC ports.
