Well on Saturday I was heading over to my girlfriends house to pick her up, I was driving through a local neighborhood and did a double take, when I saw a Galaga arcade cabinet sitting by the road next to the trash.  I was in my car and my girlfriend has a truck, so I quick called her and she was able to help me pick it up.  It was very badly water damaged but all the hardware seems to be working!  Moniter just needs a cap kit I think, all in all you cant beat free!  I have a empty Donkey Kong Cabinet that needs a moniter so I might just hook up Galaga in there for the time being.  In all I still cant believe they were just throwing this out!

Boom, thats super cool... Is she too far gone to maybe do a Resto Mod even if she is not 100% original in the end?

Ah, so you found the secret room, eh? Bask in the glory of a Mario Trilogy, a Pair of Zeldas and a Sextet of Megamans. Yes this is the little grey box that could and continues to do. What lies ahead is entirely up to you. YOU DECIDE

I have seen some horrific photos of pinballs and arcades being taken to the landfill to be dumped. Once these things stopped being earners back in the day they were completely worthless to most.

Nice save and find sir!!

I'm sure you all know this, but if you have a love for Pinball machines, don't ever watch The Who's Tommy.  Seriously.  It's the stuff of retrogaming nightmares.

That poor cab. If it was waterdamaged, check for mold. If that is the case, I would be parting out the board, monitor, coin door, control panel, marquee, and bezel. It might be worth it just to do that, I don't know if you can save the wood.

Wow nice look out there seeing that and saving it from death hopefully. That cab looks pretty bloated and horrible, but I guess if you have the money and skills to fix the exterior it's an amazing keeper. Importantly the game plays, buttons work, screen needs help but works, and the cpo and marquee along with the coin door area look to be in good enough shape. Can't beat free, even if it's done for, the working parts and things worth salvaging on there have solid value.

Is it how I'm seeing it or was the water damage bad enough the side lacking the t-molding has bloated itself fatter along the whole side of it?  That would be a bit of a trick trying to fix that if that happened and likely would just need a new piece of wood cut to fit that side and re-attachment, then finding some matching materials and side art to make it nice again.  I'm guessing since the right isn't showed it probably is better off, and is the back missing?

All said I have a couple machines myself, don't really advertise it as I don't collect little account icons, but of the two, one was a freebie modern cocktail with an icade 60 in it. It didn't have a couple pieces I was able to locally source cheap, and bypassed another issue as well and it came up running like a champ. When you can get something like that and make it right again it's all worth it.

Or read up on what happened to the machines at Chuck E Cheese when they were replaced.
