Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week's game is going to be Contra.  Here are the rules:

• 1 player only
• Input the Konami code to get 30 lives (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start)
• Get as far in the game as possible
• Only one playthrough of the game allowed (no looping allowed.  Anyone suspected of looping the game will have their score disqualified)
• You must take your picture at the beginning of a stage (where you can see your score).
• Do not allow yourself to get a Game Over.  Any pictures taken on the Game Over screen will not be accepted.
• If two players or more took their picture on the same stage, the lowest score takes precedence
• If you beat the game, take your picture just before Stage 1 starts back up to show your score and how many lives you have remaining.
• If you beat the game, divide your score by the number of lives you have remaining
• Furthest progress wins with lowest score taking precedence
• Participation:  Get to Stage 3
• GENRE: Action/Platformer

TIPS FOR TAKING YOUR PICTURE

• Have your camera and username near you while you are playing so you can take a picture quickly
• Take a picture at the beginning of a stage when you only have a few lives remaining (Secure your score)
• Taking a short video is a sure way to not miss your score!

The contest ends Sunday, 7/30/17 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

I like these rules because using the code lets everyone play through the entire game, even those of us who aren't that good.

I guess no maxing score for this week. I will see how it goes when my Contra cart is here.

With regard to getting a picture, I see most people completing the game because of the 30 man code. Just be ready to start recording video of your TV after beating the game and use that to get the pic.

I was afraid of this, but it makes the most sense. I was looking forward to a three hour, seven loop max out marathon.

and for the record i only made that bet w ole sanda because he made it seem that (like me) he would only be able to play each game a few times. i will give him credit he gave me bayou billy to even it up but then the mutherfucker goes and plays target and bad street for 40 hours a week... bad form sanda bad form.

Also, I can tell the entire pattern of tiles that will drop on waves 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 11 at Klax by looking at the first 3 tiles and yet I couldn't break 3 million points.
That is the very definition of failure!

This is my first completion of the game this week. My second attempt and one of the only times I've played this since I was a kid!

I really need to get a SNES. I've missed mine and really wanna play some of those games. Maybe I'll settle for an emulator and USB SNES controller for now.
