So thanks to another member on here, I recieved my Plok proto today. I am happy to say that there a numerous differences between my proto and the final release, which is from April 3rd '93, 5 months before its earliest release.

The first are the lack of a license screen, a different title screen, and no options menu. The next difference is that there are more enemies which take more hits to kill in the proto. Some things, like logs, cannot be killed at all in the proto. I also have fallen through the floor a few times. There is no text in between the levels either.
I have only gone through the first 2 levels so far, but it looks like the proto was quite a bit harder.

The biggest difference is that hitting select in the proto brings up a level select screen. It has  5 categories: Cotton Island, Acrylic 1-8, Acrylic 9-16, Plok's Legacy, and Flea pit test. This expliains the left over text found in the released rom, as discussed here: http://tcrf.net/Plok...

Flea pit test has 8 levels, each brings you to the same area, with a different vehicle. Selecting level 5 causes the game to freeze at a black screen. Hitting the spike things in the car causes the game to stutter and lag badly.

I am sure there are more, and I will be putting more time into this over the next few days, and will update this thread.
These are REALLY addicting..the fact that I was able to get a decent SNES platformer proto, with differences, is amazing to me! Now I need to get more...

Does anyone know if this was dumped?
Also, sorry for any typos, no spell check on this forums in Chrome?
Is there an award for having a proto?

Definitely a nice prototype. I looked in my archives, and I couldn't find any dumped prototypes of Plok, so I am sure your prototype is undumped.

I wanted to bump this because I have some questions:

What should I do with this proto? I don't have the means to dump it. Is it even worth getting dumped? (I dont care about money, but I mean would anyone care)
I also noticed that the cutting room floor and snes central have Plok articles, should I dump it and send them the rom, or document changes I see and provide them that information?

I guess what I am asking is, what should I do with this proto that would most benefit other collectors, or is it just such a minor game it isn't worth the time/effort?

Never hurts to ask around. Not sure how many people are interested in Plok but you never know.

Hah. Not for sale sorry

I was inspired by your thread though!

Damn you ninja edit.

Yea I guess thats why I keep going back and forth. Does anyone even care? Probably not. But in a way itd be a shame for the proto to be lost/destroyed without being dumped.

Also sorry to necro bump, but Shogun, do you own a SuperUFO Pro 6? You can use one of those to dump the cartridge and then you can upload the .UFO file that you made. Then I can check it out since I'm a huge Plok fan.

Shogun last visited in November 2014. Try a PM. Maybe it'll alert his email. Otherwise I would expect to hear anything.
