I kept getting random artifacts in my AVS+everdrive fami combo on the rom Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, then as I discovered they were also visible on the lone ranger, and others. I tested every single firmware available for the AVS, and I was able to confirm that the issue started on b6 and its still present on b7 and b8.

I tested OSv14 and v15 on the everdrive, and redownloaded the no-intro versions of the roms, this is definitely an AVS issue.

I made a video:

Here is a screenshot:
http://imgur.com/a/feav0...

Although its barely visble on the screenshot, let me know if you need me to retouch the photo, or make new photos and videos.

Krikzz had recently solved a random white artifact issue on metroid and other games, but the artifacts seen on the roms I mentioned, are present even with his new fix on FW verfsions b6, b7 and b8.

Another bug that I found is that someone recently developed sound support for VRC7 on the everdrive, but now evertime I try to play Lagrange Point translated, the game crashes after a minute or less into the game. I tested this custom mapper on all of the AVS FW revisions. Could you please check this issue as well?

Just cross-posting my email to RetroUSB in case others have experienced this glitch as well in Castlevania.

I got to the Grim Reaper level in the final gauntlet before the boss fight. After throwing the cross at one of the enemies with lots of medusas on screen the game froze. I was unable to go back to the AVS menu and the system required a full power off. Not sure if this glitch is specific to the game or otherwise.

System is on AVS 1.20beta at the moment.

Cheers.

It's actually specific to early versions of the game and it's not just on the AVS where it will occur. My 5 screw copy does the same with holy water spamming on that passage.

Thanks for the info. I'm actually using the no-intro set on an Everdrive in this case, not my original cart. Any recommendation of a rom that doesn't glitch out? Cheers.

I'd like to throw in my bits too.

I've seen this same exact behavior on my original NES using the Everdrive N8 with latest OS for Maniac Mansion and Moon Crystal. I'm using no-intro ROMS from SmokeMonster's Everdrive pack. I don't think I have the latest version of this Rom pack either.

I've been meaning to re-format my SD card for the ED to see if this might help.

They say use the largest allocation block size possible when formatting.

However, I discovered there is a specific SD card formatting software, that I downloaded today, called SD Card Formatter.

I'm going to try formatting my SD card with this to see if maybe it gets rid of these "sparkle" effects like in your video. It could be the ROM itself though.

Same issue here. It's an Everdrive issue. Krikzz finally posted a fix recently. I just updated the OS myself and it fixed this issue. Unfortunately, if you want to use some of the 'unofficial' fan expansion audio mapper updates for Gimmick!(Sunsoft 5B (Mapper 069))) and LaGrange Point (VRC7 (Mapper 085) you'll have to manually edit one of the Everdrive's .BIN files via hex editor. I don't know exactly how to do that unfortunately, but I'M EAGER FOR A DETAILED STICKY ON HOW TO DO THAT  .

OS update in Krikzz' post below:

This thread can be closed.

The user-made VRC7 mapper was fixed by its author and it now works with the AVS.

The random artifacts dissapear when I use any fw below b6. Krikzz also fixed some random white artifacts on his own too.

I hope this info helps other everdrive + avs users out there!

I've also noticed this issue. It seems to still be around in 1.20. b5 works decently, but has a handful of other everdrive related issues. For example 1.20b5 will cut off half the screen if I load up the first level of Gradius 2 or Parodius Da on the Everdrive. It doesn't seem to do that with the cart versions though. Even 1.10 seems to play my physical cart of Gradius 2 just fine, though I don't think I've ventured too far into it using the AVS (I noticed 1.20 was supposed to fix something Gradius 2 related).

I guess I'll just stay on 1.20b5 and use an actual cart when I want to play Gradius 2 or Parodius. I like the unsaturated palette, so I definitely don't want to go back to 1.10.

You updated your mapper files as discussed in this thread?

Yep, everything's up to date with both the avs and everdrive. The 1.20 avs firmware was just released a few days ago I think.

The first 1.20 beta doesn't have the weird artifacts, but it does have other problems like fds games not loading from the everdrive, and a glitchy gimmick title screen.

Now I can't make up my mind as to which firmware to use. On the bright side, I have enough carts and an fds so I can kind of just forget about everdrive problems if I need to.
