Just want to remind everyone to include their user names in their picture submissions. We had a couple scores last week that didn't include them, but decided to accept them since everyone put forth an impressive effort with Marble Madness

I would strongly suggest you to do a lot of practice runs first then.
There are different routes and a lot of cheap deaths.

Dose anyone know if the JP version is the same, aside from the extra sound and uncensored things? The US version doesn't work on the powerpak, but the JP version does. Would that be acceptable to use for this contest?

That would be fine, Mog.  I think the US and Japanese versions are pretty much the same, aside from a few very minor things.

Doesn't Grant use unlimited throwing daggers in the JP version instead of his little knife?

Are we playing using any of the characters, or Trevor only?

Why zero, why not game over, cant' recall but does the high score disappear?

Can't remember but is there a way to take advantage of 1up loops, if so, this going to be forbidden, or acceptable, because the way this could go, the one losing the most lives so long as they don't lose all of them will have the better chance at a high score if they could lose enough lives to replay some areas yet still make it really far into the game, more chances at more points, no what I mean.

I'd like to play this one, not sure yet, my copy has really messed up Atarish graphics because one of the fingers is severely corroded, but I'll see what I can do, its a Castlevania game, I'd certainly like to give this one a try especially since I've never given it no where near the effort I ever have with the first Castlevania.

Hmmmm, not sure about Grant in the Japanese version. If there is anything in the Japanese version that can give someone an advantage over the NES version, then we won't be able to use it.

Yes, we can use any of the characters. Pick your favorite one and have fun

Yep, the score disappears after Game Over, so we went with life zero.

There are significant enough gameplay differences between the Japanese and American versions of Castlevania 3.

Aside from Grant having a different weapon, some enemies do different amounts of damage compared to the US version.

Since there's significant differences between the two, then we will have to use the US version only.

Also, 1-up loops will not be allowed. Thanks for pointing that out, Megan.

Nope, never mind, graphics too messed up to even tell what the score is, duh. Perhaps I'll play it on emulator, or just sit back and watch. My nephew thinks it looks cool. Retro Atari 2600 style Castlevania 3! Should've broke down and bought another a long time ago.
