Not even worth the effort, plus my goodwill has everything vg related in a glass case.

Nah, I've never even considered swapping tags. Even if the Goodwill has raised its prices lately, they're still cheaper than full retail. If it's not theft, it's definitely fraud, and that just serves to drive prices up further.

NEVER NEVER NEVER ....If the price is too much dont buy it...if it is worth the price you will buy it...Wouldnt be any different if someone did it to something that you might have gotten cheap or free and was selling

Wow... classy individuals here...

In my opinion, if you are resorting to this for games/electronics/non-NEEDED items, then you have no reason to be collecting games. If you are doing this because you have no clothes, and you can't afford to pay the $2.99 for a pair of pants, well then... you probably aren't on a computer browsing this web site.

In certain middle eastern countries, don't they cut your hands off for stealing?

So would the punishment for switching tags be to rearrange your face?

I would never do this.  People that steal from Goodwill make me sick.  I have to admit that I do benefit from people stealing from Goodwill.  Let me explain.

I have 2 Goodwills near my house, they're both about 2 miles away.  They keep a lot of the real vintage video game stuff in glass cases.  But then they put all their PS1, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and various other games over with the CDs and DVDs on racks.  I've found that most of the time when you find a Final Fantasy game over there (especially FF 7) or a lot of other popular games like the Halo series or Metal Gear Solid series, that it's just an empty case over there.  This is because douche bags have gone and shop lifted the discs out them.  Now most of the time these cases still have the manuals and everything, so I'll round up the ones that look good and let the employees know that someone has shoplifted the discs out of them.  Since they are now pretty much worthless to them they usually just let me take them for free.  If I'm taking like 5 or more I'll usually pay them like 2 bucks for them, it's still worth it to me.  Now I end up with a bunch of manuals and cases to sell, use to upgrade my collection, or use to put with games I've gotten really cheap as disc only.  I make a nice little amount of money doing this to keep my collecting habit going.

I sometimes feel kind of bad about it because I wouldn't have this hookup if people weren't assholes shop lifting from a charity thrift store.  But I figure it's ok since the employees tell me it's cool and I'm probably doing them a favor cleaning out the crap off there shelves.  Plus like I said if I take more than a few I'll still offer to pay a couple bucks for it.

I will tell you this though, if I ever saw someone shop lifting from a charity, the shoplifter probably wouldn't be the only one going to jail that day...

Yeah...I would be so embarrassed if I was at any store and someone with me did that - especially Goodwill of all places. Regardless of what you think about a price, it doesn't give anyone the right to do that. I used to work at Target, and people would do this with clearance tags all the time, despite the item still scanning at the correct price, and then they would argue with the cashiers and demand they get their microwave for $3.99 because that's what the sticker says...

If you read through the posts above you will see that we as a society are at this point. I seriously hope you guys are joking. I'd be ashamed to be related to you, I can't imagine what your wives/parents/grandparents must think. This thread is very depressing. I assume people out there are shady in all aspects of their life, but I didn't imagine it would be from members on here.

Now the next time I buy something from a member, I'm going to have to refer back to this thread...

Who are you referring to? If you're referring to TheFrisbee or Plastik Gold I'm pretty sure they were being sarcastic. Unless you're referring to someone else?

It seems to me the overwhelming majority of people posting in this thread are disgusted with this practice.  I'm just confused where the "This thread is very depressing" is coming from?  Did I miss something?

The Zoso comment as well. I hope they are joking (I'm sure Frisbee is, I don't know who PlastikGold is though)...

The reason this thread is depressing is the fact that somebody even did it. I feel the same way about those that go to gamestop and take pictures of the Club Nintendo codes...

^ Couldn't have drawn it better myself. The overwhelming consensus is that it's wrong and morally appalling, so aside from a few jokes, I think the majority agrees and would likely erupt into a mob if someone says they do so. And if somebody on here does do it (It's the most involved or complicated crime) I doubt they'd readily admit it.

Why would that call into question whether ripping off the Goodwill is stealing?

ETA:  also, the car you drive has very little to do with how much money you actually have, in this day and age.

According to that logic a friend of yours could visit your house and take stuff that was given to you as a gift since you did not pay for it yourself?
