I thought I had mentioned it on the first day of the contest, but apparently I did not. Point racking will be allowed for this contest since there is a timer. If anyone knows of any spots where you can exploit point racking to create an infinite life loop, please mention it here so we can make it forbidden to do so.

I completely forgot to mention it as well, sorry guys.

Point racking is allowed for this contest, and Balloon Kid pretty much explained why it is the way to go. There's no loophole in the game to make extra lives, you only get one with the score and a few 1ups in the game that you can only collect once.

Use the timer wisely and try to find the best spots for point pressing!

Ok cool, I was fine with it going either way. Just wanted to know before I dove into it for a score.

106,100. It's going to be a participation pt this week for me. I'm not in the mood to point grind these levels. Still, its a decent early beat 'em up title and I do like it but I would rather prefer a low score contest.

Haha, this is exactly how I feel about this game this week.  Everytime I TRY grinding it just ends up getting me killed either by enemies or by time.

I just noticed that you can block with your shield above you and at a diagonal!

My complaint about the shield is that you should be able to move with it deployed...

You can!  You just need to be jumping first...

I didn't really point rack this run. However, I may do so in my future run this weekend.

Reached what I think is the last boss, but damn that is a HUGE jump in difficulty.

Need to figure out the point racking since I can manage to get more than half way on my first life now.

I hated this game the first time I tried it, but it is starting to grow on me.

I can see how 400k can be done but breaking 500k is nuts. I am sure it all comes down to getting the "lucky" 1-up.

Yes, that and finding the hidden high jump boots throughout the game as well.  Flying enemies and the guys in windows/behind mountains are worth a cool 2000 pts. each.

Oh, had no idea the flying guys were worth that much.

i think I have been snagging the high jump boots though.

but yeah, high jump grinding the flyers in the last level would be a tough one.

my go-to spot is grind out all but one life on stage 3-1, first floor.
then hope for the other 1-ups and grind out the rest on the beginning of stage 6-1.

3-1 was my go to spot as well.  You were milking the red knife guys right?  I think I averaged somewhere around 70,000 points per life.

I did get the lucky 1up. I had a score of over 400k and beat the game (no lucky 1up). I didn't beat the game on the 500k run.

No the grey guys spawn faster it seemed and were much lower risk.

I don't think I was approaching 70k per life, though, so it sounds like I should at least figh the red guys on he first life when I still have the power upgrade.

Yeah, I managed to beat the game on a relatively low grind play through and the bosses are just too dangerous for too few points.

i don't think there is a reasonable incentive to move beyond the first screen of 6-1.

6-2 has high jump boots.  I was killing 6-8 of the flying guys per life there.

That is only 16,000 pts, though.   I suppose it depends on whether you can stay alive long enough to burn out the timer after.

So I found some boots and an extra life but I scored less than I did on my previous run.  I still got the 'lucky' 1up but some how couldn't out do my last score.  Scored some pretty major points here with the boots.

I'm pretty sure I figured out the grinding method without reading it from the thread, but I was having problems and frankly wasn't all that interested in trying to do better.

Not the biggest fan when it comes to grinding, more time consuming than anything but oh well here is my score for the week
