One thing that bothers me is that it is much harder to consistently get the torch on stage 1.
And when you get it, using it lags the game like hell.

I only roll with the crossbow or dagger. I tried out torch, and even though it's strong it always does me in. The homing with crossbow is great until the game glitches up and the fireball just goes in circles with no enemies to kill

Just got to Vega with a perfect run... had about 800K when I got to him. Had a terrible two rounds as he was trolling so hard (a couple mutual hits with his claw from 3/4 screen and he WOULD NOT jump against the screen for whatever reason), but got by with a terrible 30K two round fight. So I get to Sagat with roughly 840K - basically participation points will get me pretty damn close to Quest's score, if not one up it with one or two good rounds on the last two guys. Anyway, I've never seen Sagat be such a fucking twat. He DESTROYED me in both rounds. I think I got one trade with him in either round and then he just rushed me down to the corner and fucking shit kicked me. I blocked about 20 kicks/drop-kicks in a row and then he hit me with a heavy uppercut through a haduken which I've NEVER seen. Unreal. When I died the second round I spiked my controller into the SNES fucking up the game. I can't remember the last time I was that pissed off at a video game... probably since I was a kid. Holy shit my blood was boiling.

Crossbow is my favorite weapon. The homing glitch does suck however.

Attempted three times tonight, I'm fairly consistent in the first 8 and almost always double perfect Barlog/Boxer (he got tricky on my last run), Vega/Claw is hard to perfect only managed it once in my last run, Sagat ain't too bad he falls in some predictable patterns but I almost always seem to take some damage, however Bison is hard to perfect, I need to practice that fight a lot, if I could only manage to perfect him once that would make the difference.

Updated my score to 875,700, link to my latest score: http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

Street Fighter score for participation. I might give it another go this week, but I really don't think I can hold a candle to you guys.

347,800

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts score:

132,800

I had a much easier time with SGnG that SF. I practiced on the GBA version since I sprained my ankle and going downstairs to the video game room was a bad idea at the time. Died all over the place on that version. Wife and kids eventually went to the store, so I scored a chance to play the SNES version on our main tv, so I pounced on that. Made it to where I took the pic on the first try, with 2 lives in reserve initially. I was running short on time so I had to tank the run and just grab the score I had. Definitely giving this another run this week.

I wish I had more time to play, I still have to read this whole thread. However, I definitely doubt I could compete with the best players in here anyways, and my score is pretty much a fair evaluation of what I'm able to do I think. If I'll have a chance to get enough free time to play and improve, I'll play another couple of games maybe, but I think that this will be my final score. I'm pretty satisfied with it. By the way: very fun experience! Good job to everyone above (or even below) my score.

I was hoping to pop SGnG in, but I think I'd better focus on the other contest. A pity.

Had a god run on GnG this evening. Once you get the arrows with the green or gold armour you're set. Keeping it is the trick. I wasted a continue on stage 4 or 5, but kept playing anyway and completed the game. I'm hoping I can get through the first run at the very least. Firebrand is definitely a pain in this game. Needed a break from SFII.

Hardest thing about GnG is avoiding weapons. Just ruined two runs in a row on level three and then four by either dying trying to avoid a dropped weapon or getting the axe by mistake. Good god that weapon sucks. It often misses enemies right in front of you.

The axe is a nightmare. It's pretty much useless. Actually, detrimental... Same with the sickle. I kind of like the dagger upgraded though, on some levels even over the crossbow

The axe here manages to be so much worse than the axe on Ghosts 'n Goblins. It is daunting how bad it is.
And the level 2 and 3 of it are even worse.

Updated Oct. 26th, Second loop, stage 3, score: 178,000. Had some really bad luck on this one. Lost the crossbows and it was all downhill from there.

The level 2 of the straight javelin is worse than level 1. Only one on the screen but typically still takes two hits for most enemies. I actually like the plain crossbow more than the seeker upgrade. That thing has got me killed so many times when the lone fireball circles around the screen leaving you unable to fire another shot. Really frustrating and basically just cost me another run.

Speaking of which. I will post level 6 becasue I am running out of time. Score of 137,000. I completely blew this run. Still had 1 man on level 6 and got two REALLY unlucky setups climbing to the last boss with those damn chest ghosts. The seeker ruined one of the runs. I should be able to no death this game, just need level 3 to be less troll and avoid upgrading the bow.

I do like the leve 2/3 javelin, but yeah, not being able to shot two of them sucks, specially at the second part of stage 2.
The crossbow here is the knife on Ghost n' Goblins for me. Powerful weapon that I suck at using.
I love the torch here, but it is tough to kill the stage 1 and 2 bosses with it.

I wish I had a bit more time too as I want to get back at SFII and would like to get through both loops of SGnG. I start a work cycle tomorrow and get off the morning of the 31st which will likely be the next time I get a good chance to play. Can't complain though. Played a lot more this month than any of the previous few as I was busy this summer. Looking forward to Metroid as well.
