Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week’s game is going to take you courtside where legendary basketball players have entertained us for years.  And this week will be a match for the ages as Team Bimmy takes on Team Abobo!  Yours truly, Bimmy Abdul-Jabbar, has assembled a team of some of the greatest basketball players of our time to mop the floor with these halfwit Abobos.  Just because these beefcakes called “skins” so they can show off their ripped physiques doesn’t mean us scrawny guys in the “shirts” are a bunch of weaklings.  Let me introduce you to my team.  My brother, Jimmy Jordan, has his “Air Bimmy’s” all laced up and is ready to show the opposition that his “Hyper Knee Slam Dunk” is truly a kickass move.  I’ve also managed to recruit the ever colorful and always controversial Ranzou Rodman to show the Abobos who the real “Bad Boys” are.  I’m also excited to have the likes of Chin “Magic” Johnson on the team.  His ninpo magic will certainly have those lunkheads spinning in circles as he speeds down the court.  And who can forget my patented “Cyclone Spinkick Skyhook” shot.  This move has the Harlem Globetrotters drooling and begging me to sign a contract to play on their team.  This move is even making Dick Vitale scream “Awesome Baby!” louder than when he is stuffing one dollar bills in the g-strings of the girls at the Landing Strip!  It’s that awesome!  These shirtless dummyhead Abobos won’t stand a chance against us.  Kidnap my girlfriend AND clog up my toilet on two separate occasions will ya?  Guess what, Abobo.  Two can play that game.  Just wait until YOU try to flush the toilet in your locker room.  Mexican food is one hell of a colon cleanser, hehehe ahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  Ahem…excuse me; I guess I got a little carried away there.  It’s just that petty revenge has never been so SWEET!  Wait, what were we talking about just a minute ago?  Ah, that’s right, basketball.  The name of the game is Double Dribble and here are the rules:

  • 1 player only
  • Set the time to 5 minutes per quarter
  • Play as whichever team you want
  • Play on Level 1
  • Play as close to the end of the 4th quarter as possible.  If you let the timer run out at the end of the 4th quarter, you will not have enough time to take a picture of your score.
  • Your score will be the differential between your score and the computer’s score
  • Ex: You 105 CPU 55 = score of 50
  • Ex: You 55 CPU 105 = score of -50
  • In the event of a tie, whoever has scored the most points will break the tie
  • Greatest differential between your score and the computer wins.  A positive score takes preference over a negative score.
  • GENRE: Sports

The contest ends Sunday, 5/10/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

Question. This sounds confusing:

"In the event of a tie, whoever has scored the most points will break the tie"

I am assuming this will work like Tecmo Bowl in that higher scores in earlier quarters will break the tie. Correct?

Bimmy is referring to the score itself. Like, if someone's score his 65 for -- 50 against (+15), and another one is 80 for -- 65 against (+15 too), the one that got 80 will be ranked over the one that got 65.

I'm pretty sure it's simply who scores the most points.  50-10 and 100-60 are both 40 point differential, but the 100-60 would be the higher score.

I've never really played much of the NES basketball games but Double Dribble seems to be one of the better ones!

I feel like a broken record lately, but I don't really feel much like playing this game this week. My goal this week is just to win a game, haha!

102. I haven't been here in a while and posted a score but I love Double Dribble (sorry but different work schedule and trying to get some outside stuff now that the weather is awesome). There's a few sweet spots on the court where you are almost guarantee to make everytime. I don't think it makes a difference who you pick but I always picked Da Bulls.
Also, when I unpaused the game, they ended up making that 3pt'er from way downtown, so it should actually be 52. I tried to pause it at the exact moment but missed and didn't get a 2nd pic fast enough.

I'm really going to give this a real chance, but I think nba jam ruined me. This feels primitive in comparison

Same here. I don't think that I've played this before and it took me five tries just to win a game. I'm usually good at sports games, but this doesn't seem to be one of them.

Here's a tip.
To win every jump shot at the start of the quarter, hold down and mash the B button repeatedly. You'll end up with the ball every time.

I actually had a better score (24), but completely missed my chance at the photo. LOL.  I'll update again   Once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad.

I was shocked that the CPU didn't make that shot. I'd say it's about 50/50 they make the last-second score.

I haven't had a chance to even try this week yet. It should only take 20-30 minutes, right? Hopefully soon I'll at least try!
