Hello, all...I was referred to your web site when I posted a question relative to the value of boxes--specifically, my vintage NES Donkey Kong Jr Math;
I posted some pictures there and got some feedback suggesting that I should be  over here.

I'm a Mom with a bunch of carefully packed away Nintendo Games that date back to when I bought them for my daugher. She lost interest early on and I haven't thought about them (and lightening my load of "stuff") until my husband passed away and am now looking to move.

If anyone can give me some suggestions on what to do next, I'd much appreciate it.

Again, this resource looks comprehensive and terrific!

Hello. Welcome to NA.

You've come to the right place. There is a large community of knowlegable collectors here. You should be able to both get accurate price estimates and field offers to buy your items.

I'm very sorry to hear about your husband and I wish you good luck with all your sales.

Condition is everything with boxes. The first thing you should do is take a whole bunch of pictures of all your boxed games, including close-up pictures of the corners and any damage.

Post those pictures in the Price Check forum and people can give you accurate price estimates.

Note that you can easily get prices for loose carts by looking at completed eBay auctions or using http://videogames.pricecharting.c...

After you have an idea of how much you want to sell you items for, you can create a For Sale/For Offer thread with a list of your items with pictures, and you can sell your items here without having to deal with eBay fees.

Good luck!

Thank you all so much for the welcome. Is it possible for me to add some pics (here) of the one that seems the most sought after?  I don't want to violate any "newbie rules"..! Your opinions will be most appreciated! TIA

PS: My "avatar" is the one I'm interested in selling. Hope making it my Avatar wasn't a violation! If so, please forgive my ignorance and I will change it right away!

Don't worry. You're not breaking any rules.

You absolutely can post pictures here. If you click on MY HOME at the top of the page, then click on IMAGES & ALBUMS, you can upload pictures and then attach these pictures to your posts.

Hope this helps!

You could make a "for offer" thread in the sellers forum, you'd generate a ton of interest with that DK JR Math CIB, it looks really nice.

Welcome to NA!

As it has been said condition is everything; the more pictures the more likely you'll find a buyer! We can help you ballpark a price, places like price charting can askew the prices as they don't document condition. Example a mint condition box with cart, manual and all maps or extras will generally fetch more money than a beat up version that is missing the extras.

I like to jump on ebay and search through the sold items and see what people actually bought them for Vs some of the crazy prices people ask for certain items that will probably never sell for the asking price.

Feel free to ask any questions. =)

Best of luck to you and your family!

As other have said its all about condition of the box. From the looks of your avatar it seems to be in pretty decent shape, though it is a bit fuzzy

How many screws are on the back of the video game itself? (This can also affect value)

Www.imgur.com... is a good site to upload pictures too very easily, and then you can just link the album instead of using the NA photo gallery (this is what I do).

Heh, I guess she wasn't too crazy about math...all the better, though. That box looks like it's been kept in real nice shape. Welcome to NA!

Just checked ebay; on jun 27th a copy in similar condition fetched $399.95!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Donkey-Ko...

I'm sure there's a few cats around here that would be interested in grabbing that from you; I'd throw it in the sellers section with a "make an offer" on it. I'd think $300-$400 would be a realistic price range. IMO =)

That looks to be a Buy-it-Now. I think a complete copy in such nice shape would go for more than that.

I suggested to her on the other forum that it is likely $800 or more. Just last year, people here were quoting around $700-1000.

Yeah that sounds more like it. I think people should be careful quoting a price just based on one piece of information, especially if you're not knowledgeable about the subject (I have no idea if the poster is or isn't).

You guys are absolutely right. I haven't been following this game in a while (like a few years) and hadn't realized it jumped so much! My mistake, no harm intended.

No problem, I'm far from an authority myself on black box CIBs. Just wanted to make sure a new member didn't have any misinformation.
